the so-called planetside veterans did nothing but fire wildly at the noobs advancing on the horizon.ground vehicles and aircraft were able to advance without anyone shooting at them. the only ones with a weapon capable of taking them out were the veterans who were obsessivel;y and compulsively firing at noobs who were so far away that they looked to be about the size of speck of dust on the horizon. meanwhile ground vehicles and aircraft advance right up to you and wipe you and everyone else right off the face of the planet. it takes 30 seconds to spawn and you usually die in less than 10. when you first start out you get weapon that isn't any better than a slingshot and it will not kill anything. spent  most of the time respawning and dying.

for noobies the game can be frustrating in the beginning. i strongly recommend you get TS and or Vent and find an outfit with active veterans to help you get started

Firstly, you need to understand that Planetside is loosely based on a rock, paper, scissors formula of game play. Everything has it's bonuses and weaknesses towards different parts of the game. So if your pea-shooter doesn't work against a tank, well then why not go re-cert (Which you can as much as you want in the first 7 days of playing a character) and grab some anti-armor weapons to launch a firestorm of rockets at the tank?

You don't try to sweep a floor with a toothbrush when you've got a broom waiting in the closet now, do you? (It doesn't work too well, and believe me, I've had to do that before.)

Second, you seem to think that veterans deliberately target "noobs" in order to get easy kills. Aside from you most likely running out in the open, running in front of vehicles, and standing up while firing at something that's probably an inanimate object, there's nothing that highlights you as an inexperienced player (Aside from subtle uniform color changes of course, but everyone and their mom has an alt so that's not a good thing to judge experience on anyway).

Your own actions are what got you killed most of the time, but that's understandable with any FPS or game with FPS elements that you just started playing. You need to learn to keep your head down, and think before you leap into battle without tactics in mind. Planetside isn't meant to be played like a run and gun Quake or Unreal Tournament match, that's why many of us love it, and that's why many people don't.

So basically, what you just experienced was a learning curve. Luckily, Planetside gives you many options to change around your character within the first 7 days of playing. You can try out almost every weapon, vehicle, and aircraft by just going to a certification terminal and clicking the "Forget All" button.

After you have tried everything out and gotten used to the general feel of the game, then please come let us know if you still feel the same way. If you've already given up on it, well then good luck in your next online adventure, but try to remember that you're not going to be topping any leader boards the first day you log in.

Note: That "slingshot" of yours that you think is so bad is called the Suppressor. It's actually the most accurate rifle you can fire while moving and taking damage. It's cone of fire also stays the tightest during continuous fire. AND you get it for free!

    Anyway, good luck.
