I really don't know how big of a gamer you are, nor do I know how much you have to spend.. and I hate pre-mades.  Anyways, not that any of that is relevant, It should run the game fine.  Except for Windows Pro, I mean, come on man.. if you're a gamer and not using XP or Vista...

Lets just say, you're going to be laughed at.

Newegg is way better..  Not just the computer but as a company.  They are the best.  My opinion of course.

I wouldn't do Pro either. I read somewhere, I think ZDNet that Microsoft is stopping support for pro and going to concentrate on XP home for the next 2 years.

Xavier don't pay attention to those guys, as they don't know a thing about what they are saying.  Windows Pro, LOL.  To the people saying he should get Home XP, UHMM HEY CLUELESS computer illiterates,  Windows XP Pro has all of it and much more for better control of your security and system.  I don't get it when people start giving advice and they don't have a clue.  Also, giving someone advice to go with Vista is just about as dumb as you can get too.  Vista's recent SP1 has caused almost as many issues as Vista did when it released.  Don't believe all the hype that it is so much better,  the OS requires double the Memory because it is a resource hog and full of gaping holes in security even though they say it is more secure.

Personally, I don't know for sure which one I would take myself, but I usually build my systems myself and the one you listed is pretty good.  I built a Phenom system with a Radeon 3850 on an Asus mobo recently and even though Phenoms are getting blasted for performance, I am thoroughly enjoying the system I built and don't have a single problem with its performance.  It all boils down to what you like.  I have been an AMD fan for a long time and would suggest looking into a Phenom system, but alot of people will try to steer you away from them because of benchmarks that mean very little in the real world.

PS.......Check out Zipzoomfly.com as I have found their prices are usually better and their service has been great over the last 4-5 years I have dealt with them too.

I must apologize, after re-reading the article it seems the cutoff from MS is for XP and then will apply to only certain OEM's. Full story here http://blogs.zdnet.com/microsoft/?p=1312. They are not cutting off support, just limiting what the PC companies can put on which PC's.

Also this link is where I got the info about XP Pro, please feel free to correct me if I am wrong. I like Pro, I use PRO, it just seems MS is not going to to let PRO be loaded on the lower end PC's from the manu's. This is the link to that story. http://education.zdnet.com/?p=1613.

What I get from these articles is that XP Pro is on it's way out totally. If MS drops them from OEM machines, in my opinion, dropping support totally is the next step. That's just my opinion though.

As for Vista, that's your call. I personally hate it, put it on my machine and hade itt off withing 2 hours after install. Again, that's just me though. I will never tell anyone what they like or don't like. All I can give you is my opinion on what I like or do not like from my experiences with the product. I may give Vista another try after they patch up their mess abit more.

Also for those slamming folks for what they supposedly do or do not know, sometimes words do get messed up or are not well thought out. I admit mine should have been a little more thought out with some supporting links and I have now provided that. Don't assume someone is not computer savy from it, granted it can make them look so. I have been working on, building, etc, computers for over 30 years now, I think I do know what I am talking about most of the time. I just would hate for someone to buy something that might end up being shelved so late in the game with XP.

There are several decent reads from these links expanding on what MS is up to. Again, sorry for how I originally make these claims.

As to which system you need, again that's up to you. I have never been a big Intel fan, more of an AMD guy myself, but I recently went with the same MB you got listed on the second one and and INtel chip, the MB is great, I am not impressed with the chip so far. Once I decide to OC the CPU and Memory, I will better be able to tell more. If I was to choose one of the two you got listed, I would go the route of the second choice.

Alrighty then, considering the newegg one has dual 8800 gt's, not gs's I'd go with that one for the price.

However, at this moment in time I'd be somewhat weary going with an AMD processor as Intel has taken a giant leap in that department.  Still, as far as bang for your buck, the newegg offering seems like the better deal to me.

Dude, do you home work and decided for yourself. Don't ask people here for their opinion and then not like what they have to say.

You seem like a smart fellow. Do the research

  • XavierxxXavierxx Member Posts: 251

i did do my homework and i turned it in on friday

but anyways i know the differences between the two machines and they end up being fairly balanced

it just ends up being a difficult choice that i dont want 2 make by myself therefore i asked you guys and which ever rig gets the most votes i guess, will be the one i get

like if everyone is saying to get the cyberpower one or everyone is is saying get the newegg one, then thats what ill do

  • OrphesOrphes Member UncommonPosts: 3,039

I would go for the newegg one.

I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention.

Heh, I must have been high.  I didn't see XP in there and for some reason thought of Windows Professional,  I guess I should have known better.  I don't even think you can buy that anymore.. it's like.. 15 years old.  Hah..  I guess everyone has their dumb moments.

If you're having problems with Vista, who's computer illiterate?  Why do you think SP1 has caused problems?  It's because people who are too stupid to wait for it on Windows Update have downloaded a bunch of unnecessary updates for Vista.  Microsoft specifically urges you to wait and not to download the standalone version because of that.  Windows Update will pick which ones are important and weed out ones that your computer doesn't need.

SP1 only causes problems if you were a failure at life.  Well, at least computer illiterate.  Oh yeah, I saw a deal on some corsair RAM the other day, 4gigs for $66.  It's cheap.  Don't buy cigarettes for a week, you'll have more than enough RAM for Vista.

I don't know why I thought he typed Windows Professional, so that was my mistake.

Buying from ibuypower is A PREBUILT.  you pick the parts and THEY BUILD IT FOR YOU.

I love people who buy this crap from places like this and then say they have a "custom" machine.

  • XavierxxXavierxx Member Posts: 251

dude i know that i didnt want to know that

wasnt the point of this thread

the newegg one - is a ibuypower one - like u said prebuilt....

the cyber power one is from their site and i choose all the parts for it

    ahem

    to clarify

please guys just tell me which one to get

    newegg - prebuilt

    or

cyberpower - chosen parts and OS (meaning if u guys think i should pick XP PRO, then tell me a dif one)

i hear ya on that. every system i have built custom I have picked the individual components, had them shipped to me, and then built it myself with a screw driver, static wrist strap :). that included everything, including the case, and the PSU. a true custom built machine is when you purchase the parts and build it yourself in your home. and that includes installing the OS and optimizing it.( if you have the know how lol)

either one will do truthfully, if you want to go with a "prebuilt" or a "custom" one in which you choose the components specifically for that. if cyber power allows you to pick your own parts, id lean more towards cyberpower as you have more control on your hardware. but id just stick to XP pro for now vs VISTA.

You might want to check the BBB on the web for Cyber Power / ibuypower.com  Not very encouraging at all. seems like 1 in 4 machines ship broken or break down.

  • lashabanelashabane Member UncommonPosts: 29
i know that newegg is absolutely great, i've ordered quite a bit from them in the past. they provide top-notch customer support and everything. still, i'd go with the other one.
