Guild Wars is a great game.  I was able to enjoy it for quite some time without have to party up with other people.  And when i did decide to party up, we didn't need large groups either.  Definitely fun and considering the price now...you might as well just pick it up at Kmart or something where it's clearanced out for like $9.99.  Remember, no monthly fee ;)

It will help if you specify which Guild Wars you want the key for (Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall or Eye of the North) :)

Honestly, try another game since the community in guild wars bites. I mean it is pretty hard to find a group at times for the missions or even the quests. Plus, for some reason some just decide to treat the game like a chat room or only log in to see armorless characters dancing around. The gameplay is ok, but some titles just feel impossible. The grahpics are great and the music as well as voice overs are good as well but the community is enough to pas this game over. There is more than one that you can not only download for free but play for free as well.

    Lmao...

Every free game I've played has been far, far worse than Guild Wars community-wise. Ryzom being the only exception, but that's only free to a certain extent. Free games usually attract kiddies that love internet 1337 speak etc. and there isn't usually anyone to stop them from acting the way they do.

I wholeheartedly agree that Guild Wars' community could be far better, but I think you're overexagerating. In my typical Guild Wars day I'll probably come across one or two idiots doing their thing, but on the whole I find people to be pretty nice and mostly mature. Considering it is now possible to switch servers in an instant while in-game, I no longer find grouping a problem at all. No matter what time of day I'm playing, there will be people in the towns in other regions. The beauty of Guild Wars, however, is that even if I can't find a party for some reason, there are NPC heroes and henchmen to replace them. It's as a result very convenient...so I'm not sure what the problem is.

Gameplay is obviously a matter of opinion, but if you're into skill over items, then Guild Wars is for you, otherwise not. Regarding the titles - sure some may feel impossible, but they're not. Plus, there are so many titles to work towards there's no need to work towards those that "feel impossible."

Lastly, I'd like to add that you get what you pay for. Guild Wars is far more polished, updated and supported than any free MMO I've played out there (I've played many, many free MMOs). It's well worth the money. OP, try it for yourself and see what you think.

I started playing GW when it was Beta and kept playing solid everyday until the first expansion came out. Now I find myself logging on and off every now and again to run a quest or try and farm something for a plat. I must say it certainly provided me with a lot of fun and I would recommend it since it is F2P.

    Give it a shot!

Playing: Diablo 2, Medievia, SWG EMU
    In between: Eq Mac
Retired: Guild Wars (2x), EQ, DAoC, PSO, Tibia, Runescape, WoW, SWG, Maple Story
Waiting: WaR (hesitant), New Star Wars MMO

As I keep on suggesting Nightfall I'd also suggest that you just send him a Nightfall one. It's by far the most organized campaign and is also the most friendly towards beginners. Additionally it introduces heroes and allows you to participate in PvE to a decent level.

imo i think that guild wars has one of the best communities of all. ive maybe came across a couple of people in my 2 years of guild wars that have really pissed me off (people in ascalon arena that think theyre top shit with maxed armor, but then i kill them in 10secs and they say that youve got no life) but generally the community is very good. my guild/alliance is also very mature and its great to be a part of it. so really, dont be worried about the community.

as for the 'cant find a group' thing. yeah i find that fairly ofter most people will tend to be playing the newest extension to the guild wars world, eye of the north atm. but thats why we have heros and henchies, although it is alot funner with other people, sometimes you just cant help it

Going to have to disagree, I've seen groups forming and such many many times since getting back into GW myself just after Nightfall's release. The benefit of GW is there are henchmen and heroes for times when finding particular elements for a group are difficult.  You can use them to round out your team and the AI is pretty competent, especially the hero AI.

Since my own play-times / schedules can be easily interrupted by things needing to be done I *typically* run Hero / Hench. setups and so far the only *significant* challenge I've found in normal mode is Cyndr. I can't say I've done it all, nowhere close, but I've done a healthy amount of stuff in GW (finished the core-storyline of factions among other things), so don't think you'll be stuck waiting if you can't find a group.

Anywho, for the OP, as many have said in the past, start with Nightfall.. on this I agree. This gives you access to heroes right off the starting line and the game-pacing is not as slow as prophecies or as blazingly quick (and potentially painful) as Factions. If you're hunting for PVP info, I'll have to defer to someone who knows more about it than I do.

GW is a great game, after being in beta and leaving it for a while then coming back once heroes were introduced I really see it as my main MMO... Nightfall and heroes fixed my only in-beta issue with GW which was the inability of henchmen alone to perform in *high* pressure situations.

    >_> <_< ^_^

Oooh 100% on yes, keep it up

Personally GW is one of a few games I fell in love with the first day I played it. I was in the middle of a phase where I was trying to find a decent F2P game and GW solved my problem. I just love the 8 skill idea and lvl 20 cap. I do think personally, after roughly 4 months I'd get bored of the game and think "sod this crap" but a month later i'd start playing and enjoying it again. I am waiting for WAR atm, I have spent much time on GW, about 1500 hours roughly I think.

We're all Geniuses. Most of us just don't know it.
