um is there a reason it took me less than 3 minutes to download the trial, make a character and get in game?
No...that is about right if you have a good connection. The reason why is the WoW trial only sends you necessary files to start playing the game the rest of the game info is streamed to you on a need to have bases. That way you can get in and play much faster. Awesome isn't it. Another great feature that Blizzard did well if you ask me...make the game as accessable as possible for the masses.
I quit the game and was furious with blizzard when the expansion was coming around, but damn that is a great feature. Now myself, my brother, and 3 of our friends are playing on the trial which is almost guaranteed to net a month or two of play -_-

tricky bastards
Don't let this change your mind, but just be aware that if you do purchase the game you'll be required to download the full install. Only the trial works this way because they know that you're not going to be seeing the entire world from the trial. Don't get me wrong it's still a brilliant move on Blizzard's part to make the trial a lot easier to try out. Hopefully once you play the trial and are happy with the game, you won't mind spending a bit of time downloading the full install.
my question is if I do buy the game - 40 bucks for burning crusade and vanilla, will I still get the free month on my trial account? my warlock is already level 17 only 2 days in so I don;t want to be wasting time if I will just have to restart it
Aoceqwarwow: You can upgrade your trial account to full account using the product key on the retail WoW box, you will then get the free month on that trial account, and you can continue playing with the characters you created during the trial.
