Well, if that beauty cannot run the game, then which notebook can? If you will have problems with that system, then my, kinda old, gaming notebook with 512mb 7900GS and 2GB Ram wouldn't run its demo.
And if such systems will not run the game, I'm sorry but the game will be very marginalized. The most important reason why WoW succeed wasn't about the game or the commercial campaign, but the ability to run in EVERY computer. AoC may not expect to get 8 million players, OK, but still, they somehow need to respect the players. An online game should have low requirements.
Your computer will do decent on medium settings in most areas except crowded areas of course.
By decent I mean 25-30 FPS at most.
The thing setting you back the most is the CPU yes.
Your memory is fine, your video card is fine but your MB and CPU will slow you down pretty bad.
Also it helps to have a fast hard drive. The game loads alot and its huge. over 25 giga of hard drive pace.
So loading screens tend to be LONG and will happen often. Changing zones, entering/exiting instanced stuff etc.
I know its irrelevant but how fast is the corsair ram you have?
Your computer will do perfectly fine imo. The processor is the weakest link in the chain however socket am2's are dropping in price like crazy. and if you have an xfx 9600gt that means you spent around $150 dollars. Should you be able to sell a couple things on craigslist or a garage sale, you could get an AMD Athlon 64 x2 6400+ for $160 on newegg and thats the 3.21ghz duel core. All in all, you will be able to play the game on high settings.

I hope they are correct. If that the case then you should have no problem running the game.
Prolly you won't be able to run it at 1280X1024 full detail but around 1024X768 should be fine.

I think you will be fine on a medium setting, so chance for getting into Open Beta soon then we can really see.
The devs have stated that they intend loading screens to be no more than 8 seconds long really, and apparently most of the time they are half that and continue to optimize.
If you had a budget for new parts say, what would be you max spending amount?
Personally I wouldn't bother spending anymore money for a new processor, its just putting money down the drain. I would aim for a new motherboard and CPU there are some great deals out there.
I just put an order in for a new PC for the wife and I'll be ordering myself some parts in a few weeks time for the game, to celebrate new promotion at work ;P
Anyway, if you could suggest a budget then maybe we could help you out a bit? For now im sure you will be fine for AoC but for extra future proofing though...!
It may work just fine, I am worried about your processor but also motherboard, if its an old motherboard even though you have a decent gfx card the mobo and processor have a huge effect on how it runs. But wait and see, im sure you will be able to play it at low - medium settings.
