eidos sending today a email to a customer, saying funcom sending them wrong keys in their pre-order packs :
the pre-order keys in the german pre-order boxes are incorrect. the included pre-order keys can only activate a german version of the game. it means in effect you can not activate a english or american fullversion from age of conan with a german pre-order box. if you want do this then you need a complete new account key. we try to solve this problem. (forums thread)
Hallo,
sounds like age of bugs

Forgive me, I can't read or understand German, but I have a question. Was this pre-order made from a German store? If so, it doesn't sound like it was a mess up at all.
Err...wait. Where is the problem exactly? If you order a game in germany, don't you -want- the German Pre-Order code? *blinks* I'm confused.

Right....from my understanding if you wanted to play on American servers, or for example English servers, you had to find a way to got a copy of the game from that region....doesn't sound like a mess up to me at all.
lol yes its a real pre-order madness. the "officials" said before german players who want activate their english fullversion can use the german pre-order pack. most german customers ordert the english fullversion to avoid the censorship (and paid for it).

So, they pre-ordered the English version in German On-Line shops (Import-Shops I guess) And those shops received the German Pre-Order codes? Is that it? If so, that's certainly a big mix-up. Booooo Funcom. ^^*is glad to have ordered directly from american Gamestop, even though living in Germany*

So are you saying they order the English version and got the German version instead or did they order the German version thinking they could activate the English version with it? If they thought the latter, than they were very misinformed and I would be upset at whomever told them that.
singsofdeath can you translate it? it is confusing and much more confusing to write this in english lol.
the main problem at the moment is: the pre-order key is a cut (censored) german key and with it it is not possible to change the createt account in a english, uncensored fullversion account.
if you want continue play after the pre-order days you must enter a fullversion key. the officials said the gamekey regulate the censorship and the change between the german version to the english one should work without problems.
Well, as I stated earlier, I -think- it's because people pre-ordered English (European English) versions from a German internet-shop (shops which Import foreign Game versions). It seems that FunCom though, supplied all German stores with German Pre-Order Codes, so even those who ordered the UK version, would only get German Pre-Order Codes.
I'm not sure though, cause the E-Mail really doesn't say anything besides there's been a mix-up.

If this is what happened, I wouldn't necessarily put the blame on Funcom/Eidos. However, if Funcom/Eidos knew that was the intent of these shops getting the European English version of the game than yes I would agree they screwed up royally. It just sounds to me that they were sticking to their guns about the regions.
Fresh from my inbox:
Problem solved... Or so it seems.
PS. I find it slightly funny that Eidos did not bother to send a true ENGLISH version of the email out (rather then the machine translated one), nor made an english version of the exchange code page - it could be that some of us do not want a german version of the game FOR A REASON. It's nothing a little online translators can't fix though. :P
Little off, but still related to issues with pre-orders:
Did they release preorder boxes in USA yet? I pre-ordered from gamestop locally, and they haven't gotten any yet.
I have visited the above linked page and today I have received my brand new code that will work with UK Collector's Edition. Yay!
PS. Of course the mail again was 100% in german, thank god for babelfish!
