    The game is almost in first wave of closed beta. By open you mean anyone can come in or selected. I think closed beta = (Picked players from the beta application).

    So anyway yea i dont htink CLOSED started. Only Internal beta.

    I think the release date will be october late early nov at the latest.  That way they can get it out before christmas.  Also since SOE is releasing Jumpt to lightspeed , might be bad if they release both at same time well atl east for SWG.

    I think SOE said that Eq2 would be released in november.  I belive thats what the SOE store says.

    yeah i guess so... any idea when it might come out? some people say it will come out in 2005 =(

    If you want a fairly bug free EQ2 with lots of content at release you better pray for a 2005 release if they release in November 2004 like people are speculating expect lots of bugs and little content(maybe). Its wayyyy to early to release this game its not even in closed beta yet!

    Given the near flawless launch of CoH, Sony, Blizzard, and all the other upcoming games better have their crap wired tight. The old excuse that MMOs are a new technology is BS, and won't fly anymore. So expect to see games pushed back, and not released until they are ready. Though, I'm sure there will be exceptions to the rule(Hi 2 U Jump To Lightspeed!!).

    Though I see your point I just can't fully agree with it. Just because it's not into closed beta does not mean it's full of bugs. You know, there's a slight chance that the internal beta they're doing now is a bug finding process too. I was being sarcastic there since obviously it is.

    There's no way to tell how many bugs there are or how productive a closed beta would really be. It's probably more productive right now since people aren't just there to test/play the game for personal benefit.. you know that's what everybody REALLY does.

    And about the content, that should already be there before they go into closed beta. So not sure why you're throwing that into the mix.

    Closed beta is going on, but only with staff, family and friends.  Moorgard stated this on the official website, but as with all betas, things can and do happen.  Yes, it was stated EQII would be out this year, and the game they say is pretty well polished.   However, I personally would rather see more then a few months of closed/open beta happening.  I would hate for them to release EQII and it not be ready, all because people are pushing them to get the game out.  It takes many months of beta testing, refining, reworking and correcting issues.  I believe we all will just have to wait and see what will come in the following months.

    Honestly I am HOPING for a 2005 release. After seeing the CC wich in my opinion needs quite some work to live up to SOE's promises I am a little worried about the game in general. I believe some 4 months+ of beta are actually needed to test the mechanics of leveling, speed in the dropping of value of items.. balancing of classes etc.

    Just hope they dont rush it just to compete with WOW...cause for some reason the speculation in release date for both games are pretty close or the same.

    Wait till EQ2 comes out, Dont buy EQ2 straight away..i say wait for at least 3-4 months..because of the bugs and all.
    Some people even say wait for 1 year, i wish when they Release EQ2 it will be Bug free! ::::28::

    I agree on the release date.. I have seen screenshots (read up on the game nearly everyday) and have read so many other things about it and I have to say that even though the backgrounds look really nice, I am sure that there will be too many things wrong within the game and that might turn off people that just want to relax and enjoy the new, beautiful Everquest world.

    I, personally, am in no real rush for it to come out, so if they want to release it next year (say in February, around my birthday!) that is peachy keenwith me. I will try it in November or next year, or when ever, but I am already feeling cautious about it, so I'd rather not be completely frustrated with bugs when I first started playing.

    If I post twice, just beat me up... my computer is being strange.

    I am sure it will be out this year , SoE isnt stupid when it comes to marketing.  They know they need to get it out before the christmas rush.  So most likely End Oct or Early nov at the latest.

    Pre-Order: Ships on 11/15/2004

    There's no "This is not an official ship date" warning, so I'd say that is the date they are trying for. Still, I'd say it will be closer to December before it hits the shelves - but that is just a guess.

    I'd have to agree with this.  I think they will definitely push for a pre-holiday release.  If the mechanics are working and the only thing that isn't well polished is content, I think they will release with a content update within the month.

    someone on the official site forums keeps spouting Nov 16, but since public beta has barely startedi don't see how this will be enough time?image

    Like someone said before in here if you go to the preorder page on sony's own site it states that it is expected out in November 2004.

    first off there will be no open beta in this game!!...and yes september is way to soon!!! will be more then you think in closed beta why have an open beta?

    Last night during OGR's Friday Night Ravecast Vannath from SOE stopped by and when asked about Released he said "November, and you can definitely quote me on that". So there ya have it.

    If the November release date is factual then that mean that their Public Beta(Not Open) phases will at most be three months long, let us hope this is long enough.image
