So recently I made a big life-changing decision and I'm very proud of myself. I want to reward myself with an MMO subscription: problem is, what?
I've already got the possible candidates ready, I just need feedback on which one would be the best 'timesink' or what have you.
Lord of the Rings Online
EVE Online
Dungeons & Dragons Online
EverQuest II
In my mind, those are pretty much the only worthwhile MMO's available right now. I've played all of them at various stages, but at this point I don't have a big preference. If anything, EVE and DDO are the favorites.

The only one I could vote for is EVE, even though I didn't particularly care for it. I don't play fantasy games at all and that leaves out the other three and I really hate PvP games, which leaves out EVE.
Besides, it honestly wasn't that fun flying from generic system to generic system, mining and then getting blown apart by some guys that can stop you from warping away. The entire economy is based around replacing blown up ships, that leaves me completely cold.

It will also help as to what it is about MMORPGs that you like.
For example, if its PVE, any of the ones you chose would be a good selection
If you like PvP, EvE online is likely the best choice.
Crafting or character customization...EQ2
If you want a game that has a lot of players EvE-> EQ2 -> LOTRO -> DDO
I wrote a brief article on how to find a new MMORPG, Read it HERE.
Good Luck
