There is nothing wrong with the game play at the moment however I do not like the recent GM moderations.
Heres my rant:
"Hello! Something new has taken effect. This game is rated "E" for everyone, so its required that you do not use any swearing words on the public channels. When a rule is offended, there will be a strike. There will be three strikes, after strike three all of your Jumpgate accounts will be perm banned."
Well gee, I thought it was getting real hard to perm ban on the US server until this came along.
Were not even allowd to use mild swearing words! Personally, I feel very unconfortable playing on the US side atm. A lot of veteran players occasionaly uses mild swearing words all the time not realising that they can get perma banned for saying that.. At least 5 people especially a friend of mine who played this game for 3 years now got banned for even saying the word, "crap".
quoting:
"It's hard to believe that in less then 2 month timespan our community went from loving JG and ND/Themis to our current state of utter contempt at ND and Themis. Im still in awe at this crap. Way to piss on your biggest fans ND."

I really like Jumpgate alot because of its unique flight engine... Ships flew fast enough where you are actually gliding through space. Too bad theres no other game like that. I might come back to Jumpgate if there is a different management.
And no don't tell me to switch to EVE because of the eye-candy graphics. I know Vendetta online is the closest game simular to Jumpgate out there just becuase of its twitch based combat. But then again, its an fps with a space environment.
Anyways, Netdevil, have fun with your happy lala walt-disney community alike.

This sounds a little to scrict but not compared to E&B where I got banned for saying "redneck".
If you truly do NOT understand why companies are tending to enforce language limits, then we can certainly discuss it. However, I suspect that most of you DO understand but just want it your way without having to bother with being considerate of others in the game.
Simply put, curse words (for many people - and this has little to do with age) represent many things - all bad. Curse words are usually meant to cause harm or angst in another (bad thing), so it is not always JUST the words but the intent. Further, curse words (for a variety of reasons) raise in many, many people a wide variety of "bad" feelings - again to be avoided. Since most (maybe all) MMOGs have some sort of "private messaging" versus server wide - the company has provided those who wish to engage in more "colorful" language a means to do so. Thus, there is NO excuse for people who deliberately or through simple thoughtlessness use words in open messaging that they KNOW will offend some of the other players. So, if you cannot learn to abide by the rules and cannot be bothered with being considerate of others - well then banning is a good technique.
The three strike rule is a good one - it gives a person two chances to clean up his/her act and learn to get along with others (as opposed to no strikes).

The fact that you have to ask indicates your awareness of the real world and people and what matters in this world. You, in short, have NO clue. Your list was the typical sort of thing I would expect - absolutely NO foundation at all. Age has little or nothing to do with the issue.
See my other post for clues.

Don't judge by age. I often times am mistaken for a player many years older than I am, and have been since I was about 13 years old. I've also met terrible (personality wise) players who are old enough to be my grandparents, I've met terrible players old enough to be my parents/older siblings/etc, and I've met terrible players my age or younger. Age has nothing to do with it. My brother acts more immature now (he's 14) than I did when I was years younger than him, and he's often stereotyped. I am too, but I'm usually reverse stereotyped (being told off by teenagers older than me when I was younger was really wierd, especially when they thought I was in my 30's). I've even had adults think I was their age...even after talking to them on Teamspeak.
Don't bring age into it when concerning behavior. Age has NOTHING to do with it.

Hmm.... i thought that most mmorpg gamers were 18+ anyway? Maybe i'm wrong dunno. If they want to enforce against swearing, well its their game and people who don't like it can always cancel their account. People need to start using their power as customers.
Many forums on the internet enforce against swearing, though personally i don't see anything wrong with it. When i use curse words, its more along the lines of "Fuck... i have no money left" or "This sword is shitty". No angst or malicious intent there. Its simply a way of expressing strong feelings.

Again, you demonstrate your lack of any understanding of the subject. Do you truly NOT understand the very significant difference between saying something offensive in a public forum and the very private and elective Google example or are you simply one of those trolls who enjoy pretending to be naive and stupid?
If you NEED me to explain the difference between public and private forums, then I would be happy to do so.

/filter: Most games have one. The ones that don't usually apply a bad word filter automatically. What keeps a minor from turning the filter off? The same thing that keeps him from watching R rated movies on HBO. Parents. If you are an adult and are easily offended by some strangers potty mouth, then /filter em. If you are worried about your kids, then bust their @$$ if you find them looking at bad words. The enforcement of moral standards should happen in the home and not be a burden to adults who think that FUCK means the same thing as GOLLY DARN when used in the same context.

I rarely talk at all ingame, but seeing as how most EULAs/ToSs require you to be 18,and this would seem rather contrary to the claim that MMOs target 13-17 yr old(the market is 18-35ish, imo), and the fact that I don't see that it's my, or the companies job to babysit anyone else's children, I have no problem with what people say. If someone is clearly doing it to be a jerk, they'll be busted soon enough. In the meantime, I have a /filter, and an /ignore command.
As for the guy who said it was the companies fault he got banned for dropping the F bomb, unless someone from Cornered Rat came to your house, held a gun to your head, and told you to type it, you, and you alone are responsible for your actions. The same responsibility extends to parents of children playing MMOs, many of whom are just as foul mouthed, and I'm sure they didn't learn it in some MMO. I realize it's easier, and more fun to play the victim, or in the case of parents, just ignore your kids, and let them run wild in the streets so to speak, but damn people, take some responsibility for your actions.

Imo, mature ppl understand that it is not proper to use vulgar words in the global channel.
Imo, teenager with rebelious attitude tends to use vulgar words in the global channel.
Imo, mature ppl tends to not want to see vulgar and offensive words in the global channel.
Imo, mature ppl are very happy with muting vulgar ppl from the global channel. As with the 3 strike and you are banned, he has been warned 3 times.
I am so sick of these few ppl that keep insisting their right to expressing their vulgar words in the global channel.
I am so sick of these few ppl that keep insisting that the global channel is their own chat channel.
The global channel is GLOBAL, and ppl need to be considerate in using the global channel.
For example, 5% of a 2000 player server are using the global channel as their chat channel. These 100 ppl chatting is causing so much spam that it is forcing 50% of the players to turn off the global channel.
If you visit some white collar offices and listen to their conversation, and compare it with some visit to some high schools and listen to their conversation, which do you think will have much more vulgarity in their language?
The Jumpgate devs and GMs have pulled a really stupid move here. community morale is really low. Hopefully it'll bounce back as Jumpgate is an excellent game -- even though the player base is small and the graphics are bland.
