Hey everyone,
I have since a year back had some graphical problems with my computer when playing games. To keep a long story short i tried re-installing Windows and updating the drivers - nothing worked. So i decided to try and buy a new graphics card and it was sort of on impulse. Now i wanted to ask you ppl if AoC will run decent?
I bought a "Leadtek Geforce 8800GTS 512MB DDR3, TV-out, 2xDVI, HDTV, SLI, 16" (http://www.mycom.se/product_info.php?products_id=40839).
My computer is a Dual 2 Core 6600 at 2,4 GhZ with 2 megs of ram.
I usually play at 1280 x 1024 resolution since that is the optimal for my flatscreen.
So what do you think - will it run okay? I haven't recieved the card yet so i'm not sure it will solve my problems i had, but i'm worried AoC woun't play in its full glory?

yes, easily.

2Mb does sound a bit wee.

I'm with Virtuella on this one ...... couple more megs of memory.
To be honest.....you've got a really decent set up there. I'm not sure what motherboard your sporting but that 6600 is begging to be overclocked. I know guys that have gotten a 6600 over 3.0 ghz with a stock cpu heatsink and fan. Pop a decent one in there, lap it and 3.6 ghz is the pretty much the norm.
Word Of Caution: You can fry your processor overclocking it. Research is the key to doing it correctly. www.google.com
Meh.....just a thought to give you some more processor for very little to no cost

I wouldnt go overclocking anything atm,If you just want to run this game your system should be fine, but everyone and I mean everyone is guessing atm,You are above the recommended specs so I hope that is more than enough, only time will tell,If indeed you are on low fps etc when you play that is maybe the time to either upgrade, overclock or just give the game a miss.
If someone had came up to me in 1980 when I was on my Atari 2600 and said we will be playing games with thousands of people at the same time.I guess my response would have been,"but I only have 2 joysticks"

Honestly a very experienced computer builder and i don't even overclock my comp's its not really worth the hassle or the very little gain you get from it. Plus the heat issues if not done correctly can seriously screw your system up and cost $$ to replace.
If you are running xp 2 gigs of ram is just barely enough to run any decent games nowadays, i would throw another 2 in there even though xp 32bit only recognizes 3.2gigs its still better than 2. If you are running vista 32 bit well there is a problem there since vista uses a gig of ram on its own. I am running 64 vista with 8 gigs of ram and run's everything i can throw at it at a high rate of speed and 0 issues. I am running the 9600 gt vid card, asus m2n32-sli delux wifi with 6400x2 BE processor. Benchmarks from 3dmark06 around 10k with 0 overclocking everything set on stock. But being able to run Crysis on the highest settings at like 1600 or whatever the resolution is (at work so i can't remember :P ) with high fps and no issues with gittery or lagginess from video.
So i would highly recommend more memory bump it upto 4gigs of ram if your board supports it run 800mhz ram ddr2 kingston hyperx rocks *but you get what you pay for in building systems*
