Whats much more interesting to discuss at the moment is if AoC will live up to its hype. Just had the laugh of my lifetime reading through one of the threads on betaleaks.com called offsite NDA break . To say it kindly, things dont look that good for AoC.

Neither Aoc nor Warhammer are in OB beta. They are both still closed beta's. Only recently has AoC started doing invites to whats being refered to as "general beta", and mainly that seems to be people from well established guilds.
To answer your "And Aventurine isn't credible because .... ?" It's because no one knows them. They haven't produced anything else, they don't have long gaming histories like Funcom nor EA/Mythic. You can argue about Anarchy Online success or failure, but that is irrelevant. It's fact that they have released a MMO before. So they are given a bit more lead way. Not to mention people have actually played AoC before. Creditable people from various gaming sites. Hell even I've played AoC before.
Mythic also has released a MMO before. Are well known and well respected in the gaming community. Even though some of their balancing practices with DAOC have been very heavily debated. So I feel more then comfortable giving them a bit of lead way. Not to mention just like AoC, people have actually played Warhammer Online, creditable people.
There are plenty of creditable gaming resources out there. That would be more then glad most likely to pay their own way if Adventurine was willing to let them physically play their supposed "Ready for Beta" build they keep talking about. Does it happen though? Nope what do we get. We get an obscure post by some guy named Asp from a guild. That just happened to be in greece, and plays Darkfall. Yet has no picture or anything to show for it. I'm actually very familiar with LoD. Had the pleasure of playing with them in Shadowbane. Even so that does not make him or his guild a creditable source.
We also have that article that Aragon dung up. That is basically sort of like the infamous Asp article. Yet admittedly after reading the whole thing. Not once did I see said person mention actually playing the game. Just basically writing what the developers told said person to say. Which in my eyes makes them EVEN less creditable then Asp from LoD.
Pictures and Video's issued out by Adventurine are not proof. Anyone that surfs the internet knows stuff like that can be spoofed. Hell I can show you a FAKE video for Warhammer 40k Dawn of War 2 floating around Youtube. That if you hadn't been told it was fake you probably wouldn't even know. Just think about the last 4 or 5 years of gaming. Just think about how much fake crap has been spewed out over the internet. Touched up photo's, staged and/or heavily scripted Video's.

Actually, judging on how bent on attacking Darkfall many of them are, they'll change their tune from "vaporware!" to "this game sucks!". There won't be any pleasing them, even if people are playing beta. I've given up trying to figure out why they come back day after day and continue spewing the same arguments over and over. First the topic title is pretty meaningless. Vaporware or not, DF has been here for years, and being not yet sued by creditors or whoever, why would it fold? Nor can any game release within a week, without any trace of distribution channels. It will take a few months to get game boxes out.
As for the endless dispute over vaporware vs game-of-the-century, well why bother argue. We will know when we have the game available for playing, beta or live. Its futile trying to predict what gameplay it will be, judging from the screenshots, single or chained in slide shows. Its not possible to criticise the game as we know nothing about it honestly. Nor is it meaningful to praise a concept beyond what it is, a list of what the developers intend to try their hands on.
For those who brings AoC into this thread, oh well. The comparison between AoC and DF? its unfair. AoC is about to be released (can we believe that, I do) DF has yet to come to that stage. AoC has list of features (like it or it, that is another story) DF has list of promises, can't compare the 2 lists. AoC is produced based on the current technology, DF can draw upon future technology if and when it comes around to delivery. AoC has already shortlisted the features it wants to delivery upon launched and already coded them. DF has all the freedom on earth to decide on what to implement, and whatever fancies them.
No point to bash either game, either one is just a product. Buy it or leave it. Constructive criticism are welcome, but for both products, its still too early. None are marketed, yet.

I cry vaporware because i've been following Darkfall since about 2000, and every single decision the devs have made regarding this 'game' makes absolutely no sense at all. Darkfalls history has long since passed the point of reason. Wishful thinking on the part of the fans keeps this thing going, nothing more. Truth be told, i would love to see this 'game' release! I'm as tired of these uninspired, re-hatched carebear MMOs as the next guy. It's why i followed this game in the first place. But things have just gotten ridiculous, this 'game' has ZERO credibility. I started follow Dork Fall.... erm... *cough* I mean Dark Fall ofc, mid 2002 and from what I gathered at the time it had been in development for some time back then... Adventurine is trying to find publishers. In fact, they used this an excuse for not inviting public testers into closed beta during 2007. In areas where they cant get a publisher, they will be forced to self-publish. As a Darkfall apologist, you should have known...

Did I anywhere say that I still was following it? Maybe not crystal clear I can see given I wrote thet I started following DF in 2002, but the rest of the post might have given a clue or 2 that that's no longer the case.
Alltho I check on it from time to time, just in case they provide anything of signifigance, but alas to no avail so far.

First the topic title is pretty meaningless. Vaporware or not, DF has been here for years, and being not yet sued by creditors or whoever, why would it fold? Nor can any game release within a week, without any trace of distribution channels. It will take a few months to get game boxes out.
As for the endless dispute over vaporware vs game-of-the-century, well why bother argue. We will know when we have the game available for playing, beta or live. Its futile trying to predict what gameplay it will be, judging from the screenshots, single or chained in slide shows. Its not possible to criticise the game as we know nothing about it honestly. Nor is it meaningful to praise a concept beyond what it is, a list of what the developers intend to try their hands on.
For those who brings AoC into this thread, oh well. The comparison between AoC and DF? its unfair. AoC is about to be released (can we believe that, I do) DF has yet to come to that stage. AoC has list of features (like it or it, that is another story) DF has list of promises, can't compare the 2 lists. AoC is produced based on the current technology, DF can draw upon future technology if and when it comes around to delivery. AoC has already shortlisted the features it wants to delivery upon launched and already coded them. DF has all the freedom on earth to decide on what to implement, and whatever fancies them.
No point to bash either game, either one is just a product. Buy it or leave it. Constructive criticism are welcome, but for both products, its still too early. None are marketed, yet.
Could that be because Warhammer is in public beta while Darkfall is in closed internal alpha/beta?

Actually, judging on how bent on attacking Darkfall many of them are, they'll change their tune from "vaporware!" to "this game sucks!". There won't be any pleasing them, even if people are playing beta. I've given up trying to figure out why they come back day after day and continue spewing the same arguments over and over. If, for some strange reason, you think it would be terrible if an unknown developer came onto the scene and made a name for itself, that's your opinion. It's beyond me as to why that would be so wrong, but it's a valid opinion. But I would love to know why threads like this are made day in and out.

I cry vaporware because i've been following Darkfall since about 2000, and every single decision the devs have made regarding this 'game' makes absolutely no sense at all. Darkfalls history has long since passed the point of reason. Wishful thinking on the part of the fans keeps this thing going, nothing more. Truth be told, i would love to see this 'game' release! I'm as tired of these uninspired, re-hatched carebear MMOs as the next guy. It's why i followed this game in the first place. But things have just gotten ridiculous, this 'game' has ZERO credibility. But hey, if i'm wrong, i'm not too proud to admit it. Hell it's win/win for me : i get to bask in the satisfaction of saying "i told you so" to all you brainless fanboys, or i get a game that will finally interest me.But i'm not wrong.

Not saying that Aventurine isn't credible, but opposed to EA/Mythic and Funcom and every other developer out there who HAVE released atleast one game, Aventurine does not even have any publisher for their game yet. That gives them less credability. Yes they have many fancy pantsy excuses for why that is so. And a few for why the beta, that is "just around the bend", never rounds said bend....

Adventurine is trying to find publishers. In fact, they used this an excuse for not inviting public testers into closed beta during 2007. In areas where they cant get a publisher, they will be forced to self-publish. As a Darkfall apologist, you should have known...

Did I anywhere say that I still was following it? Maybe not crystal clear I can see given I wrote thet I started following DF in 2002, but the rest of the post might have given a clue or 2 that that's no longer the case.
Alltho I check on it from time to time, just in case they provide anything of signifigance, but alas to no avail so far.
I happen to remember tho reading about them not having any publisher some time back, be it ½ a year a year back.
Funny thing tho that you have to guard yourself by putting "IS/WAS" there as if you didn't quite know for certain yourself.
