Got a monster that you're having a hard time killing?
Tired of taking damage?
Would you like that pesky boss fight to be easier since the DEVs nerfed trip to death?
Well, follow these simple steps and you will gain uber 1337 skillz!
First, do not attack the monster or do anything that will make the monster angrier than he already is.
Second, summon a monster. Any monster will do, but I personally like to use the "create undead" spell to create 3 ghouls, since they have decent DPS and tend to get aggro easily. Bezekira's are nice, too.
Third, allow your pet(s) to attack the monster and get his aggro.
Fourth, let the monster kill your pets. Once the pets are dead, the monster will just stand there drooling on himself. At this point you and your party can go in for the kill.
This even works on the pit fiend! w00t!
To anyone who might not like me posting this: I just reviewed the forum guidelines and confirmed that I am breaking no rules here.

hahaha!!!
Great post Maddk! I wish more of your posts were like this since they serve multiple purposes and don't come across like a whine.
Now, what everyone needs to do is go test this on as many mobs as they can then report it to the developers if this is a repeatable bug. :O
I think there was a patch around December which was supposed to "improve" the AI which actually broke quite a few things. The developers are having to target specific mobs in order to make them functional again. Being that quite a few players have been doing this to the Pitfiend, doesn't always work, I wouldn't be suprised to see it get fixed soon.
also, spam the hell out of the Pit Fiend with every imanginble form of fatigue and exhaustion you can think of. It also occasionaly causes it to just stand there...or maybe it's also a coincidence that my little +4 dagger of destruction bypasses it's DR when doing this.
pfh - Trip is for whimps!
Funny.
I've noticed that if you charm earth elementals that they exhibit this behavior after one kill. They will just stand there and once they become uncharmed you can just kill them without them waking up. My impression though is that this does not work on all mobs. Probably related to your bug.
Yep thats the exploit some groups have been using on the shroud raid, cheesey to say the least, but people always will try and find bugs to exploit, I hope this one is fixed soon, I think it started when they changed the AI engine.
I know it DOESN'T work for all MOBs/Bosses - I summoned then swam from the "Giant" in the end of STK. He killed my scorpion, then started launching dirtbombs at me.
Anybody have a Solo strategy vs that Boss?
I don't have a construct-bane melee weapon, but I do have arrows - unfortunately, even with a +6 to hit, I rarely do [Is his AC 26?] I know he had DR, but I can't even hit!
I've tried to Web and/or Slow him [via wands] - 0 for 6 attempts with each [3 different runs]
Is he susceptable to Melf's or MM [or Fireball or lightningbolt]? I haven't tried any of them as the "Old school" aka AD&D Iron Golems were Healed by fire and not affected by most other spells. I know this is DDO and not AD&D, but at 60min/2-3kgp repair per attempt, I would like a greater chance of success!
Any help you guys can give me would be appreciated! [Don't do it solo is not helpful, thanks]

Magic Missle used to work very well agasint the Giant Construct boss at the end of Shan Ta Kor(sp). I think the boss will reset and fully heal if you pull into the water so be careful.
I've never tried soloing the quest so can't help too much there. If you're using a wizard have you tried using any/all forms of possible exhaustion on it? Bosses tend to be extremly suceptible to most forms of debuffing.
Possibly using more than one summoned monster?
they did not nerf trip. You should not be able to trip Bosses. or at least have a very small chance at it. Read the D&D rules sometime.
Conservatism.
Just old white men trying to find ways to legalize discrimination, and make the poor poorer
On the other hand the D&D rules DO say the following:
So I'm not sure why the devs made all red/orange names immune to trip because many of them are effectively immune anyway. The Titan, Stormreaver, Sorjak and Velah would be immune based on size.
RE: End boss for STK
Melfs works on him I believe along with staying out of his reach, kite him around.
RE: Trips and end bosses, actually this issue never comes up in P&P because there is no such thing as a "Boss" that is more a video game convention, blame Mario Bros for that one.
P&P bosses are generally referred to as BBEG's for Big Bad Evil Guy or Big Bad End Guy.
Heh - In P&P, my players will usually find out a mid-level boss' name in one or two sessions [assuming that they are bright enough to subdue then intimidate an underling ] The true "End Boss" is usually a ruler of a "friendly" city-state, occassionally their own! They get hints and rumors, but somehow never get solid evidence <evil DM grin>... We played 3 yrs in that campaign - they took down 4-5 major bosses, but never the leader. It kept the game fun, especially when the went after someone innocent and then tried to defend their actions [Poor Paladin!]
Thanks for the STK advice - got some on official forums too

Aye there is the evil guy the campaign is usually focused around, but to me it is not the same thing as a game style "Boss" for one, I would rarely have a P&P group fight him alone, and he gets away a lot to cause more havok later.
