My mind on my laptop, and my laptop on my mind

So, I thought I would test both the knowledge base here at mmorpg.com as well as  my own  resourcefulness and ask, to the dark, about a laptop configuration I was considering building.

First I found a bare-bones laptop called the fl90 ( link) for pretty cheap on zipzoomfly. $621

It has core 2 duo capability as well as a Geforcem 8600 gt 512MB.  Not the ultimate Crysis rig, but better than my Geforce 4. It has  an Intel 965pm chipset. It is lacking a VGI, but has other important ports like 4 USB2's and a "mini ieee 1394."

Question 1: Is that (mini ieee 1394) different than a normal firewire?

Question 2:  Can I put in the best core 2 duo mobile chip?  What about the core 2 extreme mobile chip?

Lets say the best I can put in is a T9300 (link) at $325

Then we have ram, which seems pretty straight forward.  Lets say some of this Corsair (link) at $74

Question 3: There seems to be two types of ddr2 667 memory:  pc 5300 and pc 5400.  Which would really go with the laptop?

Then we need a hard drive.  How about a nice little seagate (link) at $150.  Any suggestions or information will make me happy.

An optical drive is next. lets say this samsung (link).   It's $36.  Again, I'd like to know all you know.

Question 4:  Is this wireless adapter worth it?  It's $31.

So this brings us to a total of $1237.  Thats without S&H.

Question 5:  Is this option feasible?

If there are any problems you can find please give me some info.  This machine will be used for making music with Ableton Live (any suggestions as far as audio programs  or components (i.e. an audio interface) would be amazing, some LOTRO, some picture and video editing, and of course being extra wicked.  The info on the "mini ieee 1394" and available processors, duo vs extreme, would be very appreciated.  I would love to step up the video card, but that would cost about an extra $1000 dollars to do so just for the next level of mobil card.

Questions  6,7:  So, What would you do?  What do you think?

    - No go for Extreme procs. Why? Most high end lappy makers out there would only include those on the basis where said systems are with a bare minimum of either a single or dual SLI 8700/8800M GT/GTS/GTX classed GPUs. It's prudent to assume that soon (or some even now where available) the same applies to GeForce 9s. READ:- Extreme + Performance/Enthusiast class GPUs = OK, otherwise or any lower than that = doesn't make sense. And..more often than not you WON'T get that option to move down to a cheaper GPU to even out the costs with Extreme optional configs.

    - Check that link above as I trust that you'll be delighted with some better changes on the specs part and let's continue our discussion from there if you want to.

Very smart man.  I was more or less just curious about the extreme fitting.  Its a great deal that you found for me definitely.  However, I plan to use the machine for music making/recording and am curious about how effective the processor needs to be.  This machine is going to be used for more of that than gaming.  That and pr0n.  Maybe just get a mac,  I hear they are good for music programs and porn.  I wish putting together a laptop seemed even remotely as good an idea as putting together a desktop.  Thanks very very much, you are who makes the world go round!
