Hi,

 

I'm a veteran of mmo's, starting back in '98 with UO, and then going to DAoC and dabbling in alot of others along the way.  I've tried alot of paid ones, and as well the asian F2P ones.

I'm trying to find an mmo for me and my girlfriend to play and level with at the same time, but it's hard for me to find one that has just a few features I need:

1. -Housing

2. -Realistic good graphics not cartoony like WoW, even LoTRO is too cartoony.   (EQ II seems good in this area, but I'm having problems with my EQII account activation at the moment.)

3. -Some form of PvP either open, designated areas, or guild vs guild, etc.

4. -Variety of quest/monster variety/overall content (Fun to play as with a friend, not just a griendfest)

The only ones I can find are EQII (which I'm having problems with account activation) and DAoC (I played for five years and want something more modern).

Ideal would be something like Shaiya if it had housing.

So either P2P or F2P someone please help!

    Vanguard has alot of what you are looking for,Some ppl love it but others like me cant stand it,personal choice I guess,Also may AoC could be for you,near to release now so mabye 1 to keep an eye on.

    I was toying with the idea of Vanguard, I played for a bit in closed beta, wasn't bad.

    I was wondering if I missed one that had those specs...

    Seems I find new asian MMO converted to english gems everyday, seem good but don't fit the bill to play, example:

    Last Chaos - problem no housing

    Mentin-2 - I don't think there's housing, but there's actually fighting on horseback with graphics comparable to EQ2.  Just stumbled on that one.

    The only one that came close in F2P so far is Perfect World, supposedly they will be implementing player housing at some point as it's in the Chinese version currently and highly rated.

    Any ones I'm missing here?

    Okay, after some research I seemed to have found one that fits the bill, (I haven't installed it yet, just going from reading about it and screenshots).  The game I'm referring to is Ryzom

    Anyone have any feedback on this?  It seems to have good graphics, some pvp, housing, etc...

    Ryzom is a very good game, I played it for a little bit. I didn't get to far but from my understanding it is a bit more of a sandbox type game. Also the developer went backrupt last fall and the game is now in receivership. Rumor is, that a company has won the bid to purcahse Ryzom but no one knows what their intentions are with the game so it is more of a wait and see for the comunity right now.

    I'm a little confused.

    I've read the articles about Nevrax going into receivership, etc.

    But if you look at Ryzom's website now, (at the bottom) it's owned by GAMEFORGE ??

    check out www.gameforge.de and see how many mmo's this german company has.

    They are certainly not going bankrupt? 

    Does this mean Ryzom was already bought?>?

    It was Gameforge france that owned the game then thye went backrupt and all of gemforge france assets are being sold through the3 french courts.
