I need a free MMORPG with RP in it to play with my GF whom I recently hooked up with. It should probably not be too hard to get into. Thanks in advance.
I think prolly best for the two of you to browse the F2P list on this site, together, most of the better ones are mentioned. N choose one that ya both like...
The problem with free is the user interfaces are difficult to manage. Also, character design is usually limited. F2P's don't have long-term interest staying power and are more or less a toy that's good for a few days.
I'd recommend pony'ing up a little bit of cash if you're serious about getting her into MMORPG's. Take it one step at a time. Get your own game & account and offer to let her make a character. That can be fun together in itself. Then, when the excitement of character creation is done ask if she'd like to have the character wander around and do stuff. Offer to answer questions, be a teacher when asked. Before you know it, she'll be leading dungeon raids. I'd recommend something with good character creation and user-friendly interface like World of Warcraft or City of Heroes depending what genre would interest her more.
*BE CAREFUL* MMO's have been known to destroy relationships for multiple reasons whether it be a time-sink, jealousy issues, online cheating, and so forth. Set ground rules and have open & honest communication between each other at all times.

i read an article that said if you tell your gf she can spend more time with you if she plays she will probably play. they are easy to trick if you tell them to play a cleric (most guys are beefy classes like warriors). the girls really want attention so if you just tell them you'll let them heal you they go for that. Even this girl gamer I know completely stopped playing a warrior to play a cleric just because he was a warroir lol. she likes him so much she is a cleric now and married to him online, but he just uses her to heal him. he's even married irl! lol! girls are easy to get to play games

I'd call your post a tad short-sighted, but then that's just me.
To the OP: What I did was I completely agreed with my girlfriend that MMOs where a stupid waste of time and extremely childish. As the weeks passed she would ask me about what I was doing and why my character was glowing green amongst other things. I just told her that its just this stupid game, you wouldn't find it very interesting. As time passed her questions became more and more frequent.
A couple of weeks later I went to pick up some wine from the local liquor store, and when I came back after 30 minutes I found her sitting at my PC playing a level 4 character. She has now maxed out her character and probably plays more than I do.

Oh noes! Not the Cleric! I can picture the discussion already:
"WHY DIDN'T YOU HEAL ME?!"
"I couldn't find the button in time, I'm sorry"
"All you have to do was target and heal. Now I got experience debt/repair costs. Oh man, this sucks!"
"I said I'm sorry alright? I don't know why you're getting worked up over a stupid game."
"Stupid? I spent months on this character and YOU let him get smacked by an easy kill!"
"Fine! You take your game, I'm leaving. Sounds like you love machine more than me anyway. Goodbye!"
Don't make her a healer. If she wants to play one, at least give her the heads up that it's the hardest class to play because you have to put up with everyone's b*tching demands all the time. If I made my wife played anything short of a tank, she'd have my head on a platter.
I agree that you should get her play the hardest game or class, for you can show yourself to her then. You can give her protection, give her guide and give her help, she grows from a newbie, a weak one to be an experienced and strong one, she will appreciate you and of course will have special feeling to you, doesn't this sound cool?

That was well said, I think. Also, find out what SHE likes to do and try doing some of that. If she likes to shop, go shopping with her. Watch her as she shops to see what she enjoys. Talking, laugh, have fun. When you show an interest in what she likes, she may take interest in what you like. As the person said above, make it a fun "us" kind of experience. Show your patience, compassion, and humor. If you are these things, naturally she'd want to play the game with you because of who you are when you're with her doing them.
You could just use psychology on her and play the "Girls just aren't as good as guys at videogames" card. This will bring out the naturally feminist movement part of her that every girl has and she'll play for no other reason than to prove you wrong, in the mean time she'll grow addictive and you'll have accomplished your goal. Yipee.
i can't think of any games offhand that are free and encourage roleplaying..
except maybe planeshift but that's still in development
(but if you're interested in roleplaying, World of Warcraft has several "roleplaying" servers, though I'm not sure of the integrity anymore, mostly it's 70% people that didn't read "Roleplaying Server" and instead thought "oh hey lets mess with the serious people and be absolute morons")
She'd probably like WoW but be careful of the taverns some dirty perverted old men in there

I heard that some games support marriage system. You guys can get married, do prepare for the proposal, lol
...be careful of the taverns some dirty perverted old men in there
Ahem. If linguistical skill, hormonal rage, and remedial communication are any indication of the age group of people then my vote is not that it is "old" men, but rather very young ones...they're playing both sides of the fence, male and female. I wonder if it would weird them out to know they're boys playing with each other?
that's so like some snatch happend before between my BF and me...i just was not used to practising some buttons. however, he thought i had done the terrible things with his great character...so sad...i just a new player. it's so normal that i couldn't do what he could do...
0 0 i don't think it's good that get GF/BF into the same game with oneself...if one has something terrible, the other one may say something terribel to him/her...it's hurt...so i never invite my BF to play the same game with me..
Find someone she knows or introduce her to someone she will like as a girl friend whp plays. She will get sucked in quicker then you can say Jealous for these two reasons.
1. Curiousity- about why her friend likes the game
2. Jealousy- that you might be spending more itme having fun online with her friend
Has worked for me. unless your girl friend is high maintence then you fugged
- - if my boy friend is playing a game and i have enough time to play too...of course i will enjoy it with him whithout his any way to get me in...that is an other way to communicate with each other for us..
There many mmorpg games come out, you could listen what the gamers are talking about them here, so you'd better stay here for a moment before you choose your game.
I introduced a fried of mine to WoW when he was out of work due to an accident. His GF (now wife) made fun of him for playing a kids game. Fast forward a few years, they are now both addicted, and have a guild completely comprised of family members. They play constantly, and accuse each other often of being unfaithful online.. Funny thing is, I quit wow not long after my friend stated playing..lol
Hey, everyone's just talking about getting girlfriends into MMORPGs... But you're all missing the point. For example, my girlfriend already loves playing MMORPGs, but she doesn't role-play. How can I get her more interested in the role-playing aspect of MMORPGs?
