First of all, my apologies for starting yet another "Which MMORPG should I get?" thread, but this is a matter of HUGE importance. Well, not really, but what the hell.
As you all know by now, I'm in the market for an MMORPG with an intelligent community, potential for RPing and low bandwidth requirements (meaning it can run decently on a 64k connection). Free whiskey and rampant nudity are desireable, but not required features. I've narrowed down the selection to the following purchases:
Ultima Online 7th Anniversary Edition UO may not be the best looking MMO game in the market, but this is a pretty unique opportunity to get my hands on all expansion packs + a rare item + seven accounts + a copy of Ultima IX (a terrible game, but at least it's free). And I also heard some good things about UO roleplaying shards.
Star Wars Galaxies I've heard so many bad things about this game I couldn't even list them all, but for some reason, it still appeals to me. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I'm a Star Wars fan.
Anarchy Online Special Edition + Shadowlands + Alien Invasion I don't really know all that much about this MMORPG, except that it's rich in features and has a pretty mature community. I also find the sci-fi theme a bit more interesting than the ubiquitous medieval fantasy setting. The Alien Invasion expansion pack also looks promising, so I was thinking this might be a good time to get Anarchy Online.
Dark Age of Camelot Platinum Edition This game appeals to me at least as much as UO, but it also has good graphics. I'm worried, however, that it's too oriented on power-gaming. What do you people think?

Ultima Online - After playing any of the more recent mmorpg's this game is just soooo hard to get into. I played it after first playing Asheron's Call 1, Everquest and DAOC. Maybe is was just me, but I just could not get into it...I have no doubt it is a good game....but to be honest, in my opinion, too old. I'm not sure about the recent additions to the game however.
Star Wars Galaxies - Played this game from launch. Enjoyed it greatly but only for about 3 months. The main thing going for this game is the fact it is 'Star Wars'. I would NOT choose this game based purely on the fact you like Star Wars..then again..that is the only reason people 'should' choose it.
Anarchy Online Special Edition + Shadowlands + Alien Invasion - I played this game in beta and when it was officially released. The game was good with a massive community but the lag and bugs were just too much for me so I left. However, when Shadowlands was released I tried the free trial and enjoyed it more than any other MMORPG I have ever played. The game world is just massive..if Shadowlands was a seperate MMORPG it would still be better than most others...but with the original and the AI expansion you just can't lose. Very original setting and storyline compared to other MMORPG's. I will be starting this game at the end of the month myself.
DOAC - I played this game at release..was good but very focused on grouping. Which is something I did not like. I didn't mind grouping but the fact I was forced to do it annoyed me, was not as 'free' as I would lke to be. The graphics in this game are not as good as you might be thinking...but as with Ultima Online I have not played the expansions so they may have improved. Power gaming? yes... this game brought back all the reasons for leaving Everquest. If you like PvP...play it...if you don't..thenI would advise you don't.
