Lord of the Rings Online: Fishing Hobby Hits Middle Earth

SzarkSzark News ManagerMember Posts: 4,420

Turbine has announced the addition of the fishing hobby in Lord of the Rings Online, which allows players to fish for food, sport, or just for the halibut.

A most-requested feature has finally arrived: Fishing!

We are proud to reveal the sport of fishing as the first "Hobby" introduced to The Lord of the Rings Online. And what is a Hobby, you ask? A Hobby is an activity that you may choose to participate in for fun or for profit! Similar to LOTRO's crafting professions, a hobby allows players to experience more of the world of Middle-earth, and to interact with the world in new and exciting ways.

And what better way to begin than by finding a nice spot along the bank of a river, casting your line into the water nearby, and basking in the glory of the day while trying to nab a prize-winning fighting fish - or perhaps your next meal!

    Very nice!

That's a lot more in depth than I thought they were going to implement.  It will be very fun to find out the particulars in the game.  Nice to see that it has skill progression and titles and deeds and quests... very well done indeed!

You couldn't ask for a better Fishing system in an MMO like this.

Every update Turbine does, they make LOTRO even more fantastic.   I can't imagine how amazing this game will be in 2 or 3 years.

the addition of fishing makes you want to play this game?

could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?

Thats awesome!  I'm a deed monger so adding some to fishing makes it even better!

......and yeah this book update is just so good!  More game developers need to pay attention to Turbine, as their new ideas are heading in the right direction.

It's so hard to wait for B13.

But it's much harder to wait for Moria. :)

Moria will most likely make me reactivate my account. >.> I hope they put in Mirkwood after they do Moria.

I would be shocked, dumbfounded and completely perplexed if Turbine doesn't execute Mirkwood as an add-on in the future.  I don't know if it will be the next expansion after Moria but the potential for Mirkwood is enormous.
