If SOE were to do a complete server wipe and reset, say 8 servers, the rest of the hardware used to support those eight.  If you know anything about the SWG backbone, it is a daisy chain network of server clusters, lots of independent hardware, which is different than every other MMO design.  It was designed for high population packet driven use, but never approached design specs or investment.

If everyone had to start from zero.  Newbie Day One launch stuff...

Using the most up to date, current, bug-free version of SWG they have (yes NGE)....

Advertise like they should have done from day one....

Provide months of service to veterans proportionate to length of previous subscription (one for one) to any and all veterans, one account maximum...

Made a sincere push to get new customers, transfer other players, assist veterans with issues, and provide a society...

If all those happened, I think they could actually make something of this game.

Wont happen and you forget the bunch of pissed of players losing everything...yes its a small number of players but swg cant risk anything atm even though their dying. Might be a good idea for a last attempt to bring back swg.I think unless they make it free..it'll just die eventually.

the only way swg can get players back is by rolling the game back to the pre-cu. that is what 250k people want and it will save the game.

    hehehehehe, gotta love it.

Seriously, this game is a lost cause, roll back or no. I believe the term is

    FUBAR

With no chance of redemption. Scrap it and start over.

Lucas art should just terminate the game or make it F2P, start on another star wars mmo......without SoE in the equation.

SWG is a rotten corpse.  It needs to be put out of our misery.

You honestly believe that there is still a viable game to be played. You fanbois make my morning everyday. No matter how sucky my morning starts, all i have to do is read a post about how the game could bring in all these people still using the crapfest NGE code and all is better from there.

I don't.  Not because classic servers wouldn't attract more people (they would) but because the time for that to be able to reach it's potential is long past.

But it is a no brainier that returning the version of the game that attracted the most players when the current version has lost 90% of the former base would bring in more people.  That's just a given.

The servers are  unix. They can handle the load. The problem is the engine. It was never designed to handle the combat that has been sped up. Thats why you see trees pop up in front of your avatar. They don'y have a team who can work on this like EQ II has done with the same engine. That is why pod races never made it to the game, and AT AT walkers are not allowed,  and capes look like crap and so forth.  The engine needs some love'n.

As much as I didn't like it compared to Pre-CU, the late CU code was likely the least bugged of all the incarnations. Not the NGE, at release or now. Any attempt at a success using the NGE core as a basis was doomed to fail The NGE core systems are just plain BAD.

Time for this once great game to die and end the farce that it has become.
