The main reason I don't play SWG any longer

I don't enjoy being mistreated. It's that simple.
I don't enjoy being strung along by promises that aren't fulfilled: force ranking system almost fixed, your profession is getting revamped, we're going to fast track server mergers, how would you like to fly a capitol ship etc, etc.
I don't like being misled: buy this new expansion with all of these neat features and items (don't let them know that this is all being deleted in two weeks).
I don't like feeling frustrated by things that don't work: instancing kicks me out of the team I'm on. NPC's still spawn regularly in objects, NPC's that I can't see still kill me through walls.
I don't like working for something and then having it taken away with no consideration for how this impacts me: professions, crafting, quest progress, the type of armour I can wear, the type of cloak I can wear.
I don't like being treated with disrespect or indifference: posts locked or deleted because they asked difficult questions about the NGE, banned from the forums for goodness knows why (probably because I asked difficult questions about the NGE), told that I'm a whiner or a grousing vet, told that I should get over it, even though this list of mistreatment covers issues from pre-launch to the present day. Should I get over the fact that NPC's kill people through walls? Why, it isn't fixed. Should I get over that people didn't get subscription refunds after the NGE bait and switch? Why, they still haven't received refunds. Should I get over SOE using their EULA as a blanket excuse for unethical practices? Why, aren't they still using this excuse? Should I get over the fact that gear purchased today is going to carry a penalty tomorrow? Why, aren't they planning that for the next jedi "enhancement?"
One thing I am over, is the pre-cu game. It was fun, but it's gone. I've grieved and moved on to other fun. When SOE stops mistreating fellow gamers, maybe I'll have an opportunity to get over that too. I'm still waiting for real change to take place with the way that company does business.

I have to agree. And the constant shift of staff does not help.
SOE is the MMO industry leader in player mistreatment.

Other than the tamers neckless what item in that expansion was of no value after the NGE?
The capitol ship demo was just that a demo of what the SWG engine could possibly do, it was shown once and people assumed it was in development.
Is there this level of "they took away my progress I WORKED for" in WoW when Burning Crusade came out and all that level 60 stuff was trash with he new stuff?
Well, let's not forget all the professions that were cut and the hints of items for them, as well as revamps for Ranger, Smuggler, and a few other professions. I'd go into more, but I just don't have the time at the moment to spend re-explaining this for the one millionth time.
Difference being that a) the raiding population of WoW is pretty small compared to the vast majority, and b) WoW has a huge number of subscribers so the loss of any particular group of disenfranchised players won't even make a blip on the radar.
So the people that raided in WoW are still not subscribing, and are posting into every thread that states "I am thinking of coming back" or "I am thinking about playing this game for the first time" giving them old tired reasons for not giving Blizzard 1 more dime of theirs, not buying any product made by any division of the parent company of Blizzard. Wishing that every Blizzard employee ever associated with the game never gets another job in the industry?
The NGE devalued a great many things that ToOW introduced.
Besides, I can NEVER forget OR forgive Order 66 on Creature Handlers. The pale imitation of it that is Beast Master is an insult.
CH, Jedi, Commando, Smuggler, BH, Scout, Doctor, Chef, BE...yeah, lots of SWG time invested.

The difference is Blizzard didn't fundamentally alter their game like SOE did with the NGE.
Old topic here but I must say I quit SWG many moons ago myself. SOE did a good job of butchering that to dogshit. But I will admit that Everquest is still and prolly always will be somewhat enjoyable. But then again...lets not forget that they did not create that or really attempt to change it. Verant created it and Sony bought em out. Hopefully someone with much more respect for the customers will buy them out someday soon!

due to a friend being on station pass he allows me to use his swg account. and i have to say if they want me to come back and give them money they must bring pre-cu back. and i'm not saying open up one classic server. the whole game needs to be wiped of the nge and the whole game needs to go back to the pre-cu.
am i upset that we had our game stolen from us? yes like 250k of my friends i am upset and want our game back. i don't want nge swg i want pre-cu swg and we out number the fanbois 50 to 1. am i upset that we got lied too again like 250k of my friends yes i am.
i spent months working on jedi i spent weeks making my toons and getting items so i can buff people i made millions of credits and all of those credits are worthless in the nge. everything is worthless in the nge. and does $OE roll back to the game that everyone wants?
no we get more lies and more nerfs to professions like jedi and bh. we get heroic mobs that no one wants let me ask you this what would you take the lame heroics or content like the village and weekend long pvp events?
it is high time $OE does what we want them too. it is time they fire smed and the rest of the devs and get those who worked on pre-cu swg back into the game and roll the game back to pre-cu. everyone wants that and they should do it.
Re. other things that were no longer valid after the NGE. The most obvious thing is all the new creatures to tame themselves. Ads for the expansion encouraged people to tame the new creatures on Mustafar, then creature handler was deleted and the new creatures couldn't be tamed.
As for all of the other items that were no longer valid. I looted an armour break crystal. Armour break was removed from the game. Look at all of the combat modification loot on mustafar. Every item that modified combat skills that were deleted with the NGE became null and void, and there were many.
The NGE also made loot in the previous expansion null and void. The knuckles of katarn, one of the most sought after loot items was made for the Teras Kasi profession, which was deleted with the NGE. The Necrosis Nightblade, also high end loot in the paid for expansion, rendered useless. It too was for teras kasi. If you think it was one loot item that was impacted by the NGE, someone has been keeping things from you, or feeding you b.s., and you've been swallowing.
Regarding the capitol ship demo, there was a follow up note from Smedley once again dangling the possibility of capitol ships. Only after they didn't deliver did SOE change the story to "oh we were just showing a capitol ship to demonstrate some new graphics capabilities" or some other b.s. story.
If WoW invalidated progress, that's also a poor decision. I would ask this though, did they delete entire professions? Did they render features just paid for useless? Did they wipe out 2 years of quest progress? I would also ask, how many times has this happened in Wow? How many times has it happened in SWG? Go ahead and do an honest comparison, and decide who treats their players better. The truth in this case is fairly easy to quantify.
If you don't like lost progress due to the Burning Crusade, go ahead and post this complaint in the WoW forum. Let people know about it.
Very likely though comparing burning crusade to the NGE is like comparing a pothole to a collapsed bridge.
The response you're referring to is just another example of mistreatment frankly. After all the crap that went down, some people will say, it never really happened, or "well the NGE only removed one item from one profession." That is straight out denial of some very unethical behaviour, and the denial just adds salt to the wound.
If the people that post this crap work for SOE, they're just proving my point by adding further insult to injury with even more outright dishonesty.

Well done AC. Everyone can see footage of SOE and/or LA whipping everyone into a frenzy over the capitol ship which was said to represent the new direction for the StarWars Galaxies game.Management must have been looking at all that potential subscription money and drooling. They advertised this, took people's subscription money, and never delivered. Disgusting.
At this point SWG is an old game with outdated graphics. In order for them to do anything interesting and new they would have to put in money that they aren't willing to spend on an old game that is on borrowed time.
SWG IS and will CONTINUE TO BE in Coast mode until it dies..
So the dev who was speaking said "this is something that a dev and an artist whipped up as a proof of concept".
I saw a player walking in the ISD and some hallways that were exactly like the corvette.
There was no mention that the ISD would be player controlled.
In fact we now have the ISD as a instance in the game.
Oh yes, clearly the interior of the star destroyer was really supposed to be the corvette, right gotcha. And oh yes, this was clearly a trailer for the new heroic instance. Yeah o.k.. Do you even believe what you're saying? If you do, I think you and SOE employees are the only ones that are buying or selling this b.s..
And, SOE said they'd fix collision detection within 6 months of the NGE. And they still haven't (and probably never will fyi). And they said the force ranking system was nearly fixed and ready for re-implementation, and it never was. And SOE got people all excited about revamps for professions that they knew they were going to delete. That's fraud gutboy. Only the "smoking memo" is needed to seal the deal.
You're trying really hard to spin one example out of far too many where SOE has said one thing to customers and then done another. If you try to deny or rationalize all of those, you'll probably lose touch with reality completely.
Oh yeah, and Smed's last appeal to disgruntled players at face to face summits that he was going to fast track server mergers. It's been about a year, hasn't it?
As such, very few people reacted the way the SWG players did to the NGE, The two are barely comparable.

If you want to talk about SOE lies you really do not need to go much further than the Smuggler Revamp lie. That lie went on for so long its pitiful and kind of disturbing.
Im not telling anyone they shoudlnt play SWG but you should atleast be honest about what kind of company SOE is. It is not a matter of opinion it is just fact that has been proven time and time again. They are terribly mismanaged and have no problem telling a lie or two (thousand) in order to get your money. You as a paying customer mean very little to them.
I understand that getting behind these ideas is kind of strange. After all as a consumer you have heard all the old cliches like "The customer is king" and "The customer is never wrong". Hell even on the pizza box I got last night it said "We appreciate your business..Thank you. This is just not the case with SOE.
It is pretty obvious to anyone who has followed SWG that SOE comes across at their best as overly defensive. At their worst (and thats most of the time) as egotistical, rude, incompetent, and completely out of touch with their customers... past, present and future.

As for the future expansions.. we have a lot of ideas (wouldn't it be cool for a guild to have a Star Destroyer?)... but for now we want to focus on what YOU want us to focus on. So please add a lot of constructive thoughts to this thread and let us respond by taking care of as many issues as we can. -John Smedley
There are his own words when he first addressed the SWG populace in response to the NGE. You can also find out that this is only his second post EVER at the point, with the first being a near carbon copy of this one when the Combat Upgrade was announced. Deflection, lies and empty promises are all the SOE staff have offered people. Some people just take longer to give up hope, stop believing the spin and see the company for what it truly.
As for WoW taking away progress... wrong.
When the Burning Crusade came out I could still do every single old world dungeon with all the gear I had earned there. Not one piece of it was useless or stopped working. Nothing was taken away at all. See the difference?
