I pre-ordered this game from EBGames in store like a month ago or so ago, if that long. I didn't get anything for pre-ordering at the time, no big deal. But I called a couple of days ago to see how we'd be getting pre-oder keys, and they guy didn't have a clue.
Can anyone shed any light on this? Should I cancel my pre-order and place it online where I'll get my pre-order mailed to me?

All in all prolly see if you can find a beta key somewhere. Good Luck
-Maltos-
Oh I'm not looking for a Beta Key, I'm looking for like... the key to get into the 3 day head start, and the mammoth, and all that junk.... you know the advertised stuff.
edit: Well let me be more specific, the guy on the phone said they would be giving out pre-order kits with the game when it comes in. Ok fine, that will get my Mammoth, but it won't get me into head-start.
edit again: From the Gamestop/EB webpage:
3-Day Early Access Program
With your pre-order Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures, you will be able to participate in the 3-day Early Access Program. Early access period starts on May 17, 3 days before the commercial release on May 20, 2008. You may begin downloading the game client files and installing as early as May 14. With early access, there is a nominal fee of $5, which covers the cost of the download and includes 10 days of additional game time.
Yeah... that, how do I get that if I ordered in store?

I always assumed that you got a pre-order box, especially if you get in game items from preordering and such. As for pre-order beta, I have no idea how that is going to work, if stores aren't giving out pre-order boxes or any kind of key. Is it like this in every store?
Same thing happening here. called 4 diffrent Gamestops. they know you supposed to get keys so you can get the special in game mount, but none know of when, or how to get the keys.
I was wondering this too.
I went to Gamestop and pre-ordered the Collectors Edition, and got the art book, but they had absolutely NO IDEA what the deal was with the in-game mounts, 3-day early access, etc.
My worry is that apparently the mounts are a limited supply, and I really would like to get ahold of this since I did pre-order and everything. I'm tempted to call Gamestop customer service and get an answer once and for all, because I'll be very disappointed if May 20th comes around and I don't get the items that were advertised, and just told "sorry."
I called and got the same answer, "We have the art-books, but don't have any idea when we'll be getting the pre-order keys for early access/in game bonues"
It's still a ways off, just a little concerned, if I thought I was going to get the shaft now would be the time to cancel my pre-order and order online.

Same deal in my area. I pre ordered the CE. I got the book but nothing else. Gamestop even has a little standup Ad thingy in the store about the CE and the Mammoth and the 3 day headstart but the manager claims to know nothing about it.

Vanguard did this with preorders......the 3 day headstart. All I did was go to the store I preordered 3 days early (the saturday before the tuesday it came out) they had these empty pre order boxes there with a little piece of paper in them with a code to download it. Just head to the place you preordered 3 days early, it will be there.
I could be way off here but I think I remember reading something on the AoC forums that the CE came with a ring and cloak and some other things but NOT the mount or early access,That only came with the normal pre-order game,Alot of players were saying they would just buy the normal edtion,Like I said I could be way off as that was some time ago.
If someone had came up to me in 1980 when I was on my Atari 2600 and said we will be playing games with thousands of people at the same time.I guess my response would have been,"but I only have 2 joysticks"

I actually contacted gamestop (ebgames) about this same issue. They told me those keys will be sent out a week ahead of time. Now whether that is a week before the 14, 17 or 20 I haven't gotten a response to yet. Below is the response I got.
"Thank you for contacting GameStop.com.
It is available for the store as well, however the store will not be
receiving the codes until about a week before the early access begins.
If you have any other questions, please feel free to respond to this
email.

I didn't get a chance to read through all posts but i'll post what I know.
If you pre order online then you will receive an email by the 14th with instructions on how to download the game, and how to start playing on the 17th.
Everyone I have talked to is unsure about whether or not you will get the in game items via the key being linked to your account, or from a code that you will get when you physically receive the box.
If you pre order in the store then a lot of the stores won't get any of the cards to let you download/play until the 17th which means you would probably lose a day of the head start dl'ing the game and setting up.
Good luck!
I was told that Eidos is responsible for e-mailing the 3-day headstart codes. But they also told me that Dynabyte (the shop where I ordered) would arrange the mount code. But from what I've heard it's one and the same code. So I'm still confused.
Yeah, now that I think about it I didn't get any codes either, except that Allakahzam code Gamestop gives to everyone. Haha...
Maybe we should forward this thread to Funcom and ask for an answere!
ce gets the headstart too.

Above are two email I got from gamestop. In response to do store pre-orders get the head start also and follow up of when will the stores be getting their codes.
Pay for the headstart? what a rip-off. Mythic are giving CE pre-order customers a headstart for free but FC expect people to pay. Not only that but Eu customers get ripped off twice, not only do they pay but they pay more than those in America, five dollars does not equal five euros.
This stinks of FC trying to grab back as much money from the sales and pre-orders of the box as they are able and the only reason to do so is the knowledge that the game is not good enough to stand on it's own pulling power to keep subscribers.
