  • ProfRedProfRed Member UncommonPosts: 3,495

Sign in on the top right, and then there should be a way to sign up there.  It's been like 3 months since I did it... The good thing is you can get Comcast support through the internet or call to figure it out quickly.

nice..."Cum Fast" customers can get access to the beta, and then have their service suspended while downloading it due to "excessive usage".

    Hilarious.

Always buy the premium internet package.  Nearly always comes with great speed combined with unlimited upload and download usage.

But ya, that will be funny as hell to see how many people come in here whining they lost their ISP account for bandwidth usage doing the download.  LOLOLOL

Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware

"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."

Thank you for the info Comcast recently bought out our cable company and we were switched automaticly so had no idea about some of the fluff that came with it.

It won't matter if you look up and down that site. I tried everything to get it activated on my account but they do it so you pretty much have to call support to get it.  I've been on chat support for awhile and I don't think they understand what exactly I'm asking of them.  Comcast support is very often clueless.

You have make an account with the site that is linked to your Main comcast email, then when you log in and use that link you will see a big blue link right in the top center half of the page saying "Click here to activate Founders Club"

Just did it a bit ago and this is how I did it.

Not suspended. Comcast throttles your bandwidth on large files, especially torrents. And not only illegal ones, either.  They also have a "cap", but they refuse to disclose what that "cap" is. The FCC has already brought action against them over it. Google is your friend.

  • elvenangelelvenangel Member Posts: 2,205

they only throttle you if you do it excessively as in everyday several days a week.  Doing it once in a blue moon or every couple of weeks won't get you flagged.    They're still money grubbing tards though.

Please Refer to Doom Cat with all conspiracies & evil corporation complaints. He'll give you the simple explination of..WE"RE ALL DOOMED!

actually there are accounts of people getting "banned" from Comcast for up to a year for "excessive usage".

You can find them via google.

I've never used their service, myself, I love my DSL...especailly since the office is right down the street, so I get obscenely fast speeds.

I tried to get something other than them where I live but i'm in a strange condo complex on a lake and both other companies I had come out couldn't set me up so I had to use Comcast.  Although i've downloaded gigs upon gigs of stuff and never been cut off.  Actually it's blazingly fast, but that may be because a lot of the places out here are vacation homes.  They have never cut me off though, and i've definitely gone above and beyond what they used to cut me off at in college.

Yep, being in the boonies probably helps ya out there alot.

Cable connections are shared with others in your grid. So if you have 50 houses in your "grid", and they all have people using the internet, you are all sharing bandwidth. Which means you all pay the rates of a high connection, but don't get that connection speed when everyone is on. So they "throttle" the connections of people using more of the bandwidth, supposedly out of fairness to their other customers.

'Course, if fairness counted, people wouldn't be paying $60 for 6-8mb speed (advertised, your mileage may vary as seen above lol ) while I pay $30 for a 6mb speed that stays constant since DSL is dedicated straight into my home, rather than split among everyone on my block. That's why I like my dedicated DSL line.

I heard that Comcast has reversed their decisions regarding torrents and bandwidth.

But its ok I work for my ISP and enjoy the perks of having one of the fastest download speeds in Canada at a next to nothing rate :P

Had Founders Club acess all along and didn't realize it until I checked.

Don't forget if you have friends with comcast you can get more keys from them to give some friends that want to play a chance without subbing to Fileplanet.  I have gotten them from my aunt, mom, and a friend who doesn't play games.
