I have the Ideazon ZBoard, and I wouldn't suggest it at all.  Buy her a G15v2 instead.

The Zboard keysets feel loose and the key painting wears off quickly.  If she is a great typest it won't bother her at all.  But the problem is, not all the keys are in the same as a regular keyboard.  Also, the Zboard keysets keys like to pop out a lot.  It is nice to think you only need a $20 keyset for your new game when you switch, but the keyset just isn't as strong and dependable as a regular keyboard.  I went through four key sets with WoW alone.

I've used the Zboard before without the different game oriented inserts.  I just used the one that came standard with the keyboard only because I had the option to use it without paying for it.  It was my buddies.  I found the standard insert to be terrible.  They keys didn't feel good when I pushed them and the split space bar wasn't very sensitive and I had to hit it pretty hard to get a proper response.  I found the edge of the to be too high and uncomfortable to use.

Thing is I have not used any of the game specific inserts but I assume that other then the game specific keys the rest of the keyboard is more or less the same as the standard insert and thus IMO worthless crap.  As cool as it might be to have a Conan themed keyboard I don't think it's worth the money simply because their setup is I believe static.  I tend to change my setup the longer I play and things change around frequently, sometimes just for the sake of change.  I personally wouldn't buy the zboard or any of it's accessories, however I suggest you be the judge for yourself.  I had the option to do it for free and if you do, try it out.  You might have a different view of it.

Let us not forget the G15 is to be THEE keyboard of the AoC player.  People just are not going to want to type all of those combo moves over and over and over and over when one G key will do the trick.

Avery, you also have to consider your wife may not like AoC and decide to play WAR with that portion of the guild.  She wouldn't be too happy playing WAR on an AoC keyboard.  LOL

I hope this doesn't work the way you say.  I'd hate to think that people could circumvent intended features with simple mapping of keys.

Hey, I just noticed something on the advertisment for the Zboard Keyset for AoC!

"With every purchase of the Age of Conan Limited Edition Keyset, gamers receive a free in-game Enruned Kosalan Ring that increases all non-physical damage that its wearer deals. "

I'm glad to see Funcom isn't using in-game gimmicks to sell AoC merchandise.  Sorry, Avery.  I just had to after all the hell people over here on the AoC forums were giving WAR fans about in-game item gimmicks to sell merchandise.

Amazon Bow? I thought that was just an April Fool's joke.  Is it for real?

Yep, that part is real Shannia.  I read somewhere that it's great for the earlier levels but, eventually, you'd be able to find equal or better, to it.

So, what do others think about this keyboard.

Good idea or go with say the G15 instead?

My votes for the G15, unless you can afford this as a board just for in game.  Even then the G15 is probably better... but maybe this keyset will help make your character easier to control.

I'm looking forward to trying out the game with a controller more than anything though.

Well, I thought that Funcom was going to do their best at trying to stop the use of 3rd party macro's and I was sure they mentioned the G15.

I have no idea how they'd stop it's use and if they actually could, I don't doubt that it would be for very long.

So, although, the Zboard is kinda of cool, sticking with your G15's seems like a good idea.  Then again, for anyone that doesn't have the G15, the Zbaord is fine alternative.

But, if you can splurge a bit at the moment, go check the Razer site and look at the Tarantula keyboard(+or- the light docking addon), Lachesis(mula mula) mouse and the Destructor mouse pad.  These are on my personal wishlist at any rate.

Personally I'd choose just about any other keyboard over the zboard any day.  Even if I was gifted one for free I would still want to return it or get rid of it.  I just don't like it, no matter what insert or game I'm playing.
