AoC will be the best bet to draw a crowd

With all of the MMO releases AoC will be the best chance we have another big MMO this year.

WAR is just too similar in style and gameplay to WoW and everything else looks to be minor.

I am posting this to help stem the tide of the 10000000 negative posts about AoC from the cry babies that don't get to play for free over the next 3 weeks then quit and bash it.

Don't concern yourself too much the "tide of 10000000 negative posts" is par for the course. There has been a game/movie/album/TV Show/Book/Pot/Pan/Table/Chair/Car/Breakfast Cereal/Restaraunt/Hotel/Maid Service/Childrens Toy/Fruit/Vegatable/Meat/Diet/Country/City/State/Continent/Ocean/Lake....ok I'll stop you get the point, to which that tide has not rushed upon since everybody and their grandma's retarded cousin Jim who the family keeps looked in the basement decided they had a voice on teh interwebs.

I think people really underestimate the appeal of twitch combat in a MMO.  A lot of players are bored to death of standard rpg style combat seen in most MMOs.  The main thing that will hold back sub numbers is the game requirements.  If the 360 release happens then that will be quickly remedied.

Twitch combat is one thing on a closed lan, limited tournament server, and the like.  But when you add twitch real-time combat to a host of different types of systems (unlike a XBox360 closed tournament) with 10,000-15,000 players per server, you are talking about a staggering amount of data flow.  The part is gonna suck is that you are standing upright one sec and the next you are dead on the floor because your lagged at the wrong time and you saw non of the attack.  This is why gaming tournments for cash are held on very dedicated, very limited population servers.  I guess by the end of May when we have two guilds going at it with 300 members each, we'll know for sure if Funcom figured out how to handle twitch base combat on an MMO scale.

Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware

"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."

I think what your going to see is "semi-twitch" like TR or (god help us) NGE, where yeah, they make it look twitchy, and your aim/technique etc do matter, but really it all come downs to a dice roll just like any other semi-real time combat system, just with a tfew extra variables thrown in based on player input.

This game has the potential to be big. It's graphically above LoTR and it's a major MMO release that many WoW players are looking forward to. If a lot of major WoW guilds leave for AoC, expect people to follow. Friends usually follow friends.

If the quality is there, then I wouldn't be surprised if it reaches a million subscribers in less than a year. If it's really bad or mediocre to start, I doubt it will reach a huge level of success.

That said, I'm actually looking forward to Aion more as that style appeals to me, but AoC seems like fun and definitely a break from the WoW monotony (good game, but been playing it for 3.5 years)

Rofl its NOT twitch combat, yes its a different type of combat than most morpg games, but For damn hell as sure its no twitch combat.  Like stated about on a thread its more TR style combat, which is not twitch.

Only twitch combat u will ever get is FPS games.

TCoS looks like it will indeed be twitch combat.

If someone had came up to me in 1980 when I was on my Atari 2600 and said we will be playing games with thousands of people at the same time.I guess my response would have been,"but I only have 2 joysticks"

If anything tcos is more twitch based im in the beta for that, but still its not true Fps switch.  Like with both aoc and tcos both more akin to TR type combat, its not wow, but its not Cod4, css, more in the middle similar to TR.
