MMORPGs with non combat activities

MilkyMilky Member Posts: 339

I'm not a hardcore raider.  I used to do that stuff in the original EQ.  Right now I'm more interested in non-combat activities.  In other words MMORPGs that offer other things to do (like crafting, diplomacy, socializing)  other than dungeon crawling, raiding, and running around the world killing mobs over and over.

While crafting has become a standard alternative to combat, I am looking for a stable and evolving economy to craft in.  I am also seeking much more than just crafting.  i.e. diplomacy, roleplaying, or other activities that still immerse me in the game world.

What MMORPG would you suggest and why?  Or would you just suggest I be patient and wait another 3-5 years because what I'm looking for doesn't exist yet?

VG has a diplomacy game, much like those card games.  VG has quite an elaborate crafting system.  Socialising is hard, as the population is dwindling.

If you can go back in time, pre-CU SWG has everything you asked for.  Nostagia again, sorry.

eve online has the best economy, politics and diplomacy of any mmorpg. as a plus, its industrial side is something to praise, deep, complex, challenging.

why? because its all run by players (economy, politics, diplomacy and industry).

If you like sailing and pirates I would suggest Pirates of the Burning Sea.  There is combat but it is more strategy than action.

And the crafting / trading is a huge part of the game.  Which also requires heavy guild interaction.

So if you like guild interaction + crafting + trading + strategic boat combat I would suggest PotBS.

Just wait until the transfers from the recent server merge is complete before you pick a server.

The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience"
