"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."
While I agree that DF could silence the Critics by doing something like an Open Beta, I don't know if going about it the way Eidos/FC/AoC are doing is the right choice.
While it was widely known how the Beta would work, you STILL get an outcry of rage about the way it is handled.
So, Open Beta, yes, but maybe set it up differently.

yep, you are right. After we saw the lil' EIDOS/Fileplanet/Funcom stunt today with their lil' 13 level open beta test with the NDA still in tact, I don't think Aventurine would stoop that low. They promised their fans try before you pay a penny, so I doubt they'd do something like that.
Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:

Agree, as I said, on most things you said. Just please, refrain from the assumptions that the NDA will be left in place for the whole test. Because that is not true (according to what we know).
I am not defending FC/Eidos's decision on how to run the Beta, I just like to have the facts straight.

If Funcom had any motivation of lifting NDA, they would have done so by now. I mean hype n' preorder bring in cash. It happened to AO and could happen to AoC as well. I mean, we KNEW it wouldn't be postponed the last time, right ? It happened nevertheless.

I'm sorry, you are still making assumptions that can in no way be verified and, based on those assumptions, bash the game.
Bash the game for the stupid way of the Pay-to-Beta thing, bash them for the 13 Level cap (even though I would disagree a little there), that's all legit in my eyes and understandable.
But don#t bash it for not ever lifting NDA when they have made a blatant statement saying they will. That's all I ask.
They've ALREADY has two open betas fall through, including one for which they accepted applications (clan beta). Let's not even talk about their frequent promises that beta is "just around the corner".
If beta was offered for Darkfall again, I wouldn't even bother to sign up. There is no game, folks.

I can't believe mmorgp.com even hosts a forum for this vaporware... It's been coming out for so long tbh i cant remember when i first heard of it. Your absolutely right. "There is no game here"

Yes, you are right. I'm making a assumption that as long as it is in FC interest to keep up NDA, they will do so. Based on what I see so far on the exploitation of the fans so far (pay to beta), beta leaks, and heavy preorder campaigns (3 days headstart, pvp mount, drinking cape etc), I am assuming they are keeping the NDA up for some more preorders, not for some technical issue. Trust no one when money is involved.

This 'open' beta, will it have NDA also? Or is it free to speech?

I fail to see the point of all this whining about whether the NDA should or will be lifted. Really, who cares?
You don't have to purchase the game prior to launch.
Regardless, the game will be out May 20th and believe me, you will get all the feedback you need to help you decide whether you want to give it a try or not. The forums will be loaded with closed beta testers and people who purchased the game and played it for the first time. There will be lots of information.
Now, personally, I would prefer to have the NDA lifted, because I'm curious what people who have played think of the game so far. But, in reality, it will only get me their opinions a couple weeks earlier then I'm going to get them anyway.

You are preaching to the choir friend. We are all waiting on the day Aventurine announces open beta for DFO.
