I have recently and officially quit WoW and am now looking for another game to occupy my time. I have narrowed it down to two possible games that I'm interested in. I typically like these games because they seem like their enjoyable without consistent play. The main thing I like about them both is that they both have other things to do besides questing, killing, and raiding. I also like the wide array of skills and classes available. Oh yea and I have played he trial for LOTRO and participated in the Vanguard beta a while back. I was going to stay with Vanguard but realize it had a very bumpy start, I haven't been able to get a buddy key for Vanguard and was hoping to gain more insight about that game.
(P.S. I really just need something fun to hold me out until WAR and AOC, all the hype is making me wonder.)
Suggestions, comments and/or questions welcome. Thanks everyone in advance!

Do you like raiding? -> Vanguard
Vanguard raids are just fun, never had so much fun while raiding. I just cant stand this instanced crap like in wow, lotro, etc. As a healer, im not just a healbot, Im really involved in the fight.
Do you not like raiding? -> Lotro
Story and quests in Lotro are pure fun. There is not much content in the game yet, but Turbine is adding more constantly (But the raids were boring item farm sessions)
Do you like PvP -> none of both )
The monsterplay in Lotro is fun, but not for fullplay PvP guys. And VG doesnt have real PvP
I don't mind raiding at all just not extensively like in WoW where after you hit the level cap its basically raid all the time.
I would suggest LoTRO for pure fun factor, mean time type playing. Finished, well told story, easy to follow, polished gameplay, no headaches, etc..
Vanguard is more of a commitment IMO. Takes more time to get into the world (which is currently still going through lore re-vamps) I agree that the raiding is way more intelligent and fun than in other mmos I have played. The problem still lies in the buggy, unfinished feel. You really do need a decent rig to run it well and need to love it to overlook it's ongoing stability problems.
I played VG for over a year and loved it. Game Updates are coming steadily and it gets better all the time. The next one is GU5 and I think they are getting ready to release Trial Island. Wait for that before you try it again.
