ATM I play WoW. It's a great game and all, but it isn't what I like in MMORPGs. They've taken a turn away from community and playerbase, and now it's mostly just an E-Sport. People don't like us raiders anymore =(
I am hoping I am able to run AoC on my computer for a change of pace. I was wondering, for those of you who have tried EQ2 and VG and were lucky enough to get into AoC beta, How is it as far as system resource hogging?
I know it has specifications on the box or w/e, but come on, they are never correct. I run 2gigs with an x1600pro and an Intel Core Duo t2300 clocked at 3ghz. Will I be able to play AoC without it being a lagfest?
I can play EQ2 on balanced with no lag in a group setting, but I can only play vanguard on it's lowest settings. Any help is appreciated.

One of my PC's is just the same as yours pretty much except single core p4 3ghz normal x1600 but 4gb crap ram, the game is still being optimised but im getting 25fps easy on medium-ish settings.
On VG i was getting about 10 after release. Remember AOC has a little more way to go, and I hope they fix the slight memory leak soon. But I also know that the game is way past the client used this weekend.
you'll probably be able to play at high settings, not max though. In a sense what this game needs from a computer more than anything is space on your hard drive... this is by far the biggest download I've ever had to put on my computer... over 30GB's! That's 30,000 MB's! The old game I used to play (Guild Wars) was roughly a tenth of what this game demands in space. But everything else you mentioned to have seems to be enough... even at the low settings the game looks amazing ( I myself playing on medium settings).
If only SW:TOR could be this epic...
But guild wars one tenth! on my one pc i have all 3 gw's and its only 1.3gb in size
Hey Sausage Boy, don't take it personal. It isn't Raiders that people don't like. People are tired of the same raid over and over and over and over again. I think that is one of the appeals to AoC is the battle keeps. That will keep the game fresh for people (until WAR comes out anyway). For example, it will be interesting to see what happens when say Avery's Acolytes spend months building a battle keep and some guild comes along and takes them over just to destroy the said keep to piss them off and his guild has to start completely over in the out border kingdom. It will definately been fun to watch how this game pans out.
And besides, no one says you have to play just one game. I know a lot of people who play multiple MMOGs. I'm planning on having WAR, LoTRO and AoC as long as they all pan out. Best thing ever was the life time subscription plan in LoTRO, only 4 more months and I play for free for life.
Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:

"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."
This is good news then I'll have lots of hard drive space once I remove Vanguard and World of Warcraft, but I do not have the cash at the moment to build a new computer.
Paying double rent due to a lease issue is not fun =/

I feel your pain dude. The other night on the national news, they showed a guy with $9,000 in rental lease they wouldn't let him out of to take him and his family back home to be with the rest of the extended family when the man is dying of untreatable cancer and isn't expected to live until July. These lease companies are horrible.

Yea it's pretty much a joke. I had my lawyer talk to them and they said there was no way out of the contract even though I've moved 700 miles away. In fact they stated that they make people leaving on military duty still pay their lease. Bunch of crap if you ask me, but hey, it's life I guess.

I always thought they were obligated to let military out of a lease.

Yea me too, that's the main reason I got my lawyer into it. Threw up a big "bullshit" sign, but sadly, other lawyers all write the leases, so my lawyer couldn't do squat for me. Looks like I'll be spending my summer at work! fun fun

Jimmy, sorry for the derail here. If you are ever in the military, always ask for a military clause in your contract and make sure you go through the base housing office before signing any contract for housing. By law, if you request a military clause they have to give it you. If they still try to hold you to a lease after you have that clause in your lease, then the Soldiers and Sailor's Relief Act protects you. Not only that, any debt you had before going into the military automatically goes to super low interest rate when called up, but they can't charge payments or interest while you are serving in a combat zone.
Oh well, back to your regularly scheduled program now. Again, sorry for the derail.

During beta you have to download a bunch of the debugger files, and a lot of anxilliary stuffs to help track down bugs or record the client as your PC plays it out. The game was not yet optimised.
Upon launch, there is a chance that file size will come down a bit.
