Pokemon MMO would be cool

I have played a few MMOs, i play numerous videogames ranging on a multitude of various systems. I played the early pokemon games and have played them and completed them...I am a fan of the serious, but it far from runs my life.  I collect the pokemon, beat the game, transfer them and im good till the next game.  However focusing more on MMOs these past like 5-7 years i have always thought a Pokemon MMO would be interesting. What is everyone elses opinion on this?

They would have to make pokemon of various species more uncommon.  Leveling up would be switching between your 6 pokemon.  Events can he held about catching legendary ones, and even interacting with different types of pokemon would be more uncommon so the game lasts longer than 30 hours.  When i play MMOs i always look around for fun pets, and what better than pokemon itself?

I think it would be amazing! I was thinking about it the other day.  A massive world where you can catch pokemon and pvp with them as an mmorpg no doubt would be a success.

I absolutely agree with this. A friend and I have actually been talking about this for years, how it would be awesome to have a pokemon MMO. You could take content from the games, the series, the movies, etc, and you would have a huge, wide open world. Exploration, pvp, team rocket, pve stuff, etc... what more could you want? I like it!

Well it would attract more children to MMO's....

depends on how its done.  But ya more children...mean more stalkers.....creepy.   but the game would be fun, the have a huge franchaise with this all it would do is would grow more.  Like someone previously posted the added content from the show, movies, games the game concepts and ideas are already there...its just the unique engine and coding that would pose a problem....only the easy stuff :)

ya a pokemon mmo would be a big hit people in my high school still play pokemon i used to play it alot and if they made it a mmo i would start playin again i know alot of my younger cousins would be all over that.

but it would have to have no subscription fee because not many little have credit cards lol

    do work

I think it would be okay, It's pretty much just a simplified RPG each type has its own strengths and weaknesses.  You'd have a pretty basic team type, and your skill sets would be confined to your pokemon type and (in the case of pokemon) you'd only have 4 attacks per pokemon, so I think it would kind of be like guild wars.. just with pokemon.

    4 skills per monster(PMON) = 8 skills per character(GW)

But I feel it's as good of an idea as any other. Especially since they added the 2 on 2 battles and such... that really would add some flair.  Nintendo is kinda going towards that now that you can battle online and stuff.. but nowhere near the MMO range.

I believe that Nintendo has said in the past that they have no intention of making a Pokemon mmo. Btw I think that whilst a game that is similar to the ones released now would attract children, most that played the first Pokemon games would be in their late teens by now.

So theres not really a reason why they could not make the game more mature/darker to attract an older/wider audience. Anything with Pokemon attached to it seems to instantly sell anyway, at least in Japan. I believe their last 2 games sold something like 25 million copies between them.

I probably wouldn't try a Pokemon MMO to be honest, once you play one Pokemon game they are all the same with very little change in each one. If they were to make a Pokemon mmo it would more than likely be the same simplistic generic game they copy and paste in every iteration just this time in a bigger world with  lots of kids and pedophiles in tow.

it would be a success but i would stay as far away from it as i possibly could.  too many kids for my liking

    MMO wish list:

    -Changeable worlds
    -Solid non level based game
-Sharks with lasers attached to their heads

I remember pokemon wheni was in school, 21 now and i still love it. Its just the thing about leveling a team of "animals" and venturing around the world discovering new and exciting things.

Now, playing with kids, will be annoying i guess...just ignore them, turn chat off and go around with ya mates or whatever.

A pokemon in terms of money intake will be massive, if they released a pre paid card system then yeah, but if it was credit card based u will still have alotta members but not as nearly as much as PP cards.

Saying that, it would have to be on PC in order to get the best out of it, saying that aswell is that nintendo that i know of, dont deal with pc games. Only nintendo wii, gameboy ect. Now nintendo wii, from what i have read couldnt handle a mmo on the console, saying that its not designed to be so yeah.

There are great games out there that would be great to be placed onto mmo, but for reasons they aint, and we will all have to live with that and enjoy what we actually have :).

Who would play a pokemon MMORPG other than little kids?

people who are fans of the series.  I understand this forum is for more actual and hardcore RPGers.  So one would prolly never see the upcoming HKO (Hello Kitty Online) mmo posted.  However im 22 and the same way as a previous poster.  I did play the series when i was younger and still sometimes now.  It is a very popular game as im sure you know.  However there are people of young to around 30 that i have seen purchase the game for themselves.

yes the large amount of kids would be slightly annoying, but if you do enjoy the series then you probably have had conversations with young kids about it.  Age doesn't really matter usually when people are talking about something they enjoy.

I think you're generalizing child gamers a bit unfairly. A kid that who plays pokemon ccg and watch the cartoon and who later might play a pokemon MMO, if there was one, probably do not have the same mentality as kids who play, for example, a game like WoW.
