I personally know 7 republicans who are voting for Obama. That's IF you think you can trust a republican.

I'm a republican and I dont know who the F*** Im going to vote for.

All three are inexperienced faked losers if you ask me. Depressing set of events. Sorta like a real crappy summer olympics where your home country wins nothing lol

People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.

Remember what happened in 2004 to "None of the above"

    and when Bush got re-elected

I'm not saying Kerry would have been better

I'd vote for Ron Paul if I thought he had a chance..

but apparently the DNC and the GOP choose our candidates for us, we get the corrupt white leftist guy and the corrupt right wing old rich bald fat guy.. and i guess ralph nader thinks he should get his 1%

so this year we get the half black guy, the lady who apparently didn't give bill the pleasure he needed as president and uhh the budweiser heiress's husband/senator of Arizona(where I'm from)/ old ass white guy

I'm voting for the guy that wont take money from lobbyists

(and quite frankly I'm astounded as to why McCain got the nomination and Romney didn't..)

(And then again I'm not surprised, the same people that will be picking my President voted for sanjayaYAYAYAYAYYAYAAYA)

I'm going to bed happy  420

As soon as I read the words "I know very little about US politics" I knew that you were going to be an Obama supporter...just about all of his suporters know very little about US politics, and Obama himself...the average person voting for Obama can't give a reason to vote for him without using the words "We need change, and he's going to be the one to do it"

Your argument is like a two legged dog with an eating disorder...weak and unbalanced.

If they are telling you they are republicans, they are lying to you. There is no way in hell a republican would vote for OB unless they just don't know the parties platform. OB is about the #1 liberal in the senate, far to the left of Clinton if you can believe that. All you have to do is go look at his voting record.

Indeed...I can't even find a real reason to separate him from a given socialist...His dad was an outspoken socialist...at least he had the balls to admit what he was.

They've actually done ratings of who's the most liberal, he ranks.. I think like 2nd, but definitely top 3. Obama has no real campaign, it's all just a load of charismatic nonsense.

OK, I suppose I should have been more specific. I know 7 registered republicans who say they plan to vote for Obama. My christian conservative, NRA member, Fox News watching grandfather is also planning to vote for Obama. Believe me, I too was completely shocked when I heard that. I suppose you can teach an old dog new tricks after all. Of course, Georgia is a red state and it probably won't matter much here anyway, but if this is any indication of what will happen in swing states, Obama will be our next president. As a side note, I also know a couple of republicans that were very impressed with Edwards, so if he is named as Obama's running mate, that could potentially add even more support.

The thing most republicans I know like about Obama is his determination to get beyond wedge issues (the issues that have little impact on our daily lives that have traditionally won republicans elections) and talk about real issues that do affect the average American. This is what has costed democrats in the past. Trying to win at the republicans game instead of announcing that their game is bullshit and making the republicans debate real issues. Personally, I can't wait to see McCain and Obama in the upcoming debates (hopefully McCain will be healthy enough to participate).

I like your reply. I suspect your grandfather is mad like many other republicans at our nominee. ( I am not too happy with McCain either). I personally  think  McCain will tear Obama apart in a debate. There is a ton of wineing and "unfair" questions in the dem debate right now. What will Obama do when president and he has to make tough decisions? The press will be about 95% behind Obama.

I too was shocked when, a few years ago my father (diehard democrat) after comming home from voteing said, "that was easy...I voted republican accross the board", because of his disgust with the dem party.

All I can do is keep saying, look at the voting records. They can say anything they want.

I too, cannot wait to see Obama debate Mccain. debate wise, on issues where obama isnt so sure of what he'll say, he flounders a bit- does not have that charismatic oratory as say a prepared speech. since its obvious mccain is careful with words to not offend the race card that is and will be played, i hope he nails this liberal, racist and terrorist supporter to the wall on pertinent issues such as ...uhm, capitalism.

Actually, I think my grandfather may feel partly responsible for the state we are currently in for doing just this. We had some heated debates in '04, and I have avoided "i told you so" out of sheer respect for the man he has always been and what he has meant in my life. He has admitted several times that voting Bush was a mistake though.

As far as future debates go, let's just hope McCain knows the difference between Sunni and Shia by then.

Give $1 to each Hillary, Obama, and McCain and see who's campaign comes back the fastest with a mailing asking for more money.....

.....then see who's campaign asks for money the most.

Care to give your definition of a 'real republican'?

Is this anything like a 'real Danzig fan' or a 'real cowboy'?

Just curious what you think "the state we are in" is?

Immigration? I can agree with you there.

Republicans in congress not getting spending down? I can agree there too.

Economy is cruising along. Low unemployment. Iraq is getting better all the time. Lower taxes.

Obama will not be able to stand up to 1/4 of the pressure Bush has been put under. I hope soon the press will start taking Obama on for the stuff he keeps saying and the company he keeps. I want to see Obama challenged on his take on special interest and unions. I want to know how he is going to "bring everyone together" when his voting record says otherwise. I want to hear what he is going to change besides taxes and pulling out troops.  This is pretty much a pipe dream though because the press is in love with Obama and he will get a complete pass.

Barack Obama isn't kidding when he says, "Yes, we can!" Here's a sample of what he has in store for you:

Yes, we can raise the income tax!

Yes, we can raise the capital gains tax to a level that even Bill Clinton thought was too high!

Yes, we can use the Fairness Doctrine to drive conservative talk radio off the airwaves--and never you mind the First Amendment!

Yes, we can gut the defense budget!

Yes, we can raise the minimum wage every year--and never you mind if some business really can't afford it!

Yes, we can continue to block the building of new nuclear power plants!

Yes, we can ban handguns--we don't need no stinkin Second Amendment!

Yes, we can pass more "hate speech" laws to imprison and/or fine good people who speak out against perversion!

Yes, we can appoint more liberal judges to the federal bench--the same kind who gave us the eminent domain decision, which allowed town councils to take a family's home against their will!

Yes, we can repeal the Defense of Marriage Act and ignore the clear, stated will of the vast majority of Americans!

Yes, we can get rid of our nuclear weapons!

Yes, we can raise the payroll tax!

Yes, we can make the federal government even bigger than it is now!

Yes, we can raise federal spending, even though we've been complaining about the Republicans' runaway spending (but we've only complained about the Republicans' lack of fiscal discipline to score political points, not because we have any intention of reducing spending)!

Yes, we can side with the Palestinians and pressure Israel to make even more concessions--and never you mind all those rocket attacks coming from Gaza or that the Palestinians have historically resorted to violence after every single Israeli concession!

Yes, we can throw more money at public schools!

Yes, we can oppose all forms of school choice--never you mind if the kids would be better off if parents had more control over where their education tax dollars were used!

Yes, we can do away with secret ballots in union elections--cuz that's what the union bosses want!

Yes, we can wreck the best healthcare system in the world by socializing it--gee, look how wonderfully the government runs Medicare and the VA healthcare system!

    Yes, we can!

It'd be pretty amazing what domestic change we could make with the $2 billion per week we are currently spending in Iraq.

    U.S. military in Iraq = 168,000

Private contractors in Iraq = 180,000

    Sounds odd, doesn't it?
