Ran the game fine on low still looked great, lagged a little when I hit new spots on the Blood Ravine, but that was probably my @#$@!# DSL. I lag more when the game starts and the 100000000 companies involved with the game show ads, I think I broke my escape key.

8 gigs is perfectly fine, and not bad for $140. I have plenty of programs that I can set to use all 8 gb if I wanted. I use vista 64 bit. There are plenty of reports that all of your ram does get used elsewhere in your PC and that its taken advantage of.

Yeah if your trying to run your home comp as a Citrix box for 10 people or have 10 VM's running as a test environment. RAM only gets used if its needed.
While I expect that by release there'll be some improvements, I'm still interested to know if anyone with something in the range of a Pentium D 2.8ghz, 2GB RAM, x1950Pro, Windows XP ran it, and if so how'd it run?
Think that my 2.4 Ghz Quad Core with 4 Gig of ram BUT an ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro would run it well?
Or I should change my graphic card? It is a direct X 10 graphic card and it says total available graphic memory at 1662 Mb. So what do I really have? A 512Mb? It confused me...
Oh and I'm running Vista... tell me I can run that game cuz I don't want to spend anymore money on that computer I just bought this a few months ago o_O

Understood that the beta client may not yet be fully optimised blah blah blah, Still I want to know the OP's situation. What is the config of the machine of yours that runs AoC smoothly. And how smoothly. Which display card, how much RAM, XP or Vista ... Can you elaborate a bit please. i am building my new rig for AoC, I am figuring out what CPU and what display card. I am settling for XP and so its 2G or 4G (which only means 3G under XP).
It all depends on what you expect visually and how much spare change you have lying around.
I run it (almost) smoothly on my machine. XP, 2GB, E6600 and 2x8800GTX (tho it runs almost as good with 1)
(for full config, see my X-Fire profile. Tho it's missing 2x750GB disks, the rest is accurate)
I currently seem to have the big bottleneck in my CPU and HDD tho as, esp with 2GB, it's quite heavy on HDD access. 4GB, however, is just wasted memory. Either go for fast 2GB or underclock your memory and go for 8 with a 64bit OS. A fast HDD might help as well. (2xRaptor in RAID0 or similar )
But, as I said, it all depends on your disposable income as top of the line parts can get expensive *fast*
I stopped playing beta because of the horrible performance it gave me... i have a Pentium Dual Core 2.8 gig, 2048 MB RAM and a Geforce 8800GT (512mb) alpha dog ed. My average fps was something like 20-30 in the wilds on medium/low. As soon as I hit the more crowded areas it dropped dramaticly and in the cities i was running around with 7 fps, turning it into a slideshow. Also, running this game on low or medium really doesn't look as good as some people would like you to believe. Not trying to bash the game or anything... this is just my own personal experience i had with aoc. Make of it what you want. Cheers.
there are many people in beta including myself who get lower fps on low setting than on high setting. disable bloom for sure. disable forced low shaders. hold down ctrl and the ~ key then move the lod slider to 4.0. theres a problem with the high quality textures loading slow right now so when you 1st go to a new area just rotate your character around so things will load and you'll find things will go much smoother.

Thats correct (January sales) had a $25 mail in rebate too. Thats CAN $ too. In the hardware forum here when I have time I'll post vista using 6 gb ram when I multi task in the things I do. But it depends on what you do with your PC. There is a massive jump from 2gb to 4gb performance in Vista and a barely noticeable difference from 4 to 6gb. But when using the programs I do from 4 to 8gb i see the benefit - plus its dirt cheap.
And the guy you quoted and was agreeing with ~ states about his performance in the "Wilds" which is not in this PvP weekend version as he says.

I ran it fine with this:
Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3
Socket 478 P4 2.6GHz single core ( overclocked to 3.0GHz ) with Hyperthreading
2gb DDR ram
Creative 5.1 soundcard
7600 GS 3.0 shader AGP card
The only things I turned down were bloom, anti-aliasing down to 2 ( client has it default to 16 ), and shadows down to medium.
Maintained 20-30 fps in the singleplayer part, dropped to 15-20 fps during PvP.
So, if an old comp I built around 3 years ago can run it, I'm sure you'll be fine. But like I've said before, everyones' comp is different. Even with the same specs, it matters how it's setup and configured, what programs you have running in the background, etc.
Meh, this beta is still running debug code. performance should be much better at launch. I'm running an AMD 3800+, 2GB RAM, 7900GT and Vista and on medium I was getting 20-30 fps with sound off. I definitely will get a dual core CPU before launch but I wouldn't worry too much.
I don't know what was in the body of your post to make it get deleted...
Neither do i mate... the only thing i said was that my dual core 2.8 gig, 2048MB ram and 8800GT 512 pc was running AOC in the more crowded areas with a whopping 7 frames per second on medium/low. So considering the fact that my post got deleted because of breaking the NDA, what is it exactly that i disclosed? As far as I know a NDA is there to protect the intellectual property such as various gameplay elements, in other words: the combat system, how questing works, what kinds of things can be done in-game, etc, etc.
In all honesty, I really, really, really don't see how posting my performance breaches this considering the fact it's of no use what-so-ever to other developers anyway. Also, i have seen plenty of posts saying it ran great on their pc's... how come those do not get deleted? Or the ones saying that i have to enable/disable this or that, doesnt that (in this case) even more so breach the NDA? I'm sorry, but this is ridiculous... anything to keep the pr-machine rolling eh guys?
The moderators of these boards are kind enough to send you an email explaining what happened most of the times. I've never saw your post, so can't comment on it. My guess is that you probably claimed that you had those issues in the general beta and not in the PvP event. It's just a guess though, since I don't know what you wrote, as I mentioned earlier.

I passed all the minimum specs and only failed slightly on the recommended cpu spec.
I have a dell xps 710 system and it so far has rocked any game that I have played.
My current cpu is a dual core 1.86. I may call the local computer store to upgrade that cpu as prices for cpu's right now are priced decently.

Whats shitty is your lack of respect for NDA. Keep it to what your allowed to.
