That is exactly my sentiments. Too many freeriders these days. People want to leech, to enjoy without paying. They tend to come to ransack a game when they got a free pass or buddy key and then bail leaving behind all the turmoil they can deliver. They never intend to pay for the game, they are there to play while its free, and they do not care about building up friendship or being nice.
I tend to be very wary of games offering free trials. I would not want to start playing with these freeriders around, ruining the day.

I have no ideea if the game is going to be good or bad, but it has some great ideeas. What i like most about it is the open pvp, I've never been into factions. I don't get the conflict in WoW, why am I fighting? Because I hate horde? I don't hate horde. I'm going to pvp to get honor and with that buy items, and all that for what, to be the best in the game? I won't be the best in the game there are at least 2 mil ppl playing more then me, they will have better gear and some of them more skill and I won't be the best. So why am I fighting?
I think AoC is trying to make pvp mean something, you are not fighting to be the best you are either fighting for greed(resources you get from destroying opponents battle keep) or for sourvival, and I think this is very life like. Even more you can kill a player just because you hate him, and this is possible since you get to acctually play with that person and maybe get to hate him. I cannot hate some1 I've never met just because he chose another faction.
I think the game has some great ideeas and this is very important because it's a lot easier recode your software to meet a certain ideea then to change the ideea itself. Often trying a different approach means a whole new application. What I'm trying to say that to me it seems that Funcom did a very good job designing the game on paper, and this is a very important stage in developing any software. I'm putting all my trust in then, from what I have read so far they are on the right path. I won't care if the game is a bit unfinished on lounch, I will try to see what it can be and not what it is, i suggest all of u do the same. And to prove that I'm putting my trust in them I'm paying 50% more for the game just because no1 ships the game to my country, and I'm certain i won't be disapointed.
I hope Funcome will implement an easy bug report service at lounch as I will definetly be reporting as many as I can find, and I'll try to help as much as I can.

Well... I didn't participate in the PVP beta weekend, but I find it rather encouraging reading all the postive comments from sensible folks who were. I expected to see lot's of AOC bashing after letting the public in, but apparantly the game is exceeding expectations.
I've seen lot's of troll posts, especially on the Darkfall forum, regarding AOC. Apparantly, the Darkfall fanboys are as wrong about AOC as they are about their game. LOL!
I didn't really see or experience enough in the very brief event to actually judge the game much. I WANT people to criticise, however. Unless you make it in the beta or there's a reasonable trial, people giving their opinions, good or bad, is how we make up our minds about the game. However the criticism is VERY valid. I have a SEVERE feeling that this game has not been well tested. That core aspects are not completely done. That Funcom has clearly shown us they can make Capture the Flag work since Leipzig convention. And the starter areas level 1-13. But they have not shown anything besides that for a LOOONG time.
I think there are genuine grounds to FEAR that this game will be an instanced nightmare with bugs, features taking out or not implemented yet, balances of the game that hasnt been tested well etc etc...
But at this point FC is winning the PR game. Good for them. Bad for the players come late May.

After spending about 30 hours this weekend playing the pvp veta at 20, I cant disagree more with you. The game is doing well, its fun, its engaging, and no where near as buggy as the VG beta I was in.

The general beta is the one that is testing the 1 thru 80 content, the open beta is for merely stress testing the servers hence the 1-13 cap, as the most heavily stressed areas on release day will be the starter areas. I am not concerned as most recent mmo's have been capped during the open beta stages, i can name a few from the top of my head, LOTRO had lvl 15 cap, POTBS had lvl 12 cap, WoW had lvl 15 cap, and i'm sure there were plenty of others that i'm just leaving out. The fact is funcom did not have to have an open beta at all, but they are to stress test to get enough data so they can make changes on the server side to help by release date.
The point of the matter is everyone always thinks there is a hidden agenda by any developer decisions that are made, but just don't understand the reasonings for it. The majority of the reasons will be for stress testing and the minority of reasons will be to keep some surprise for the release. These are the reasons why you do not see open beta for singleplayer games as there is no need to stress test it.
Either way come may 17th or the 20th there will be no reason to speculate anymore, instead of having uninformed people crying about something they have no clue about yet atleast then they will if they gave AOC a shot. Then some of these posts will be more valid if based on actual proof not speculation

I think there are genuine grounds to FEAR that this game will be an instanced nightmare with bugs, features taking out or not implemented yet, balances of the game that hasnt been tested well etc etc...
But at this point FC is winning the PR game. Good for them. Bad for the players come late May.

The general beta is the one that is testing the 1 thru 80 content, the open beta is for merely stress testing the servers hence the 1-13 cap, as the most heavily stressed areas on release day will be the starter areas. I am not concerned as most recent mmo's have been capped during the open beta stages, i can name a few from the top of my head, LOTRO had lvl 15 cap, POTBS had lvl 12 cap, WoW had lvl 15 cap, and i'm sure there were plenty of others that i'm just leaving out. The fact is funcom did not have to have an open beta at all, but they are to stress test to get enough data so they can make changes on the server side to help by release date.
The point of the matter is everyone always thinks there is a hidden agenda by any developer decisions that are made, but just don't understand the reasonings for it. The majority of the reasons will be for stress testing and the minority of reasons will be to keep some surprise for the release. These are the reasons why you do not see open beta for singleplayer games as there is no need to stress test it.
Either way come may 17th or the 20th there will be no reason to speculate anymore, instead of having uninformed people crying about something they have no clue about yet atleast then they will if they gave AOC a shot. Then some of these posts will be more valid if based on actual proof not speculation
