~SOE and Lando~

LaterisLateris Member UncommonPosts: 1,848

I was looking at my NGE manual and it has Lando all over it. Yet there is no Lando in the game despite many "bring Lando forth" requests since beta pre release. I have to think in terms of why they can't allow a Lando in SWG to activate quests, missions, content, and so forth.  Why is that SOE and Lucas Arts have never brought forth this character? I am kind of ashamed to think of the answer. I find it dispicable why they would not allow this character into the game. He is after all a poster child for the NGE, trader, and racial equality amongst fans.  He also lead the way for more actors to be part of Sci Fi without having to be of one color . What the heck is SOE's problem? So I do question the lack of Landos character within the gameplay itself.

The problem, I suspect, is the dickweeds at Lucas Arts.

Oh noes, Lando is a character from ESB!  We can't have him in a game set between ANH and ESB!

It's pure LA stupidity, as usual.  The idiots who brought us the poster child for dumbassitude, Jar Jar Binks.

CH, Jedi, Commando, Smuggler, BH, Scout, Doctor, Chef, BE...yeah, lots of SWG time invested.

Yeah, dozens of Jedi fighting out in the open, every ahole and his brother wearing mando armour.... but Lando, nah can't do that for continuity reasons lol, will the stupidity never end.

Thankfully Lando and Yoda where sparred from appearing in SWG.

SWG always had the worst and lamest usage of Iconic characters in a MMO.  The stories and missions they shamefully created that revolved around some of the best characters in star wars is sad and pathetic.  Not even Ralph Koster can escape that in my opinion.

The orginal game lacked any sort of quality missions or usage of swg persons.

SOE deserves to die just for its lame usage of Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader.

Yeah, the Emperor sending hardened player Imperials out to rough up some thugs always struck me as rather pathetic.

Then there was that animation that they had the Emperor doing early on...the same one as the Veermoks and other lower primate types...

CH, Jedi, Commando, Smuggler, BH, Scout, Doctor, Chef, BE...yeah, lots of SWG time invested.

  • This current bunch of Devs would put Lando in the game in this way:

You'd have to kill 3,000 mobs to collect the whole set of "Colt .45" cans and bottles.  Turn them into Lando who for some reason is in the Village of Aurilia, on Dathomir, with 50,000 other people despite the fact that the planet was BLOCKADED during the GCW by a whole FLEET of Star Destroyers and you get your reward:

"Bottle of Colt.45, grants the buff of "smoothness", guaranteed to "work every time".

do they have in-game art they could swipe for him from pre-CU? Is he in the .tre files?

If not, there's your answer. Lack of money for new art.

At last years fan-fest, Blixtev said they really can't do any NEW art for the game, they have no budget for it.

Also have to remember that the time frame is right after A New Hope and SOE has yet to move the time line to Empire Strikes Back, or have they finally?. So he probably on Bespin, err floating over it. So none of the main characters would know he is there.

Who can tell what the timeline is at this point?  It's supposed to be post EP4, yet, since the CU not even the blasters sound like weapons from the Trilogy (they sound like the swishing weapons from the prequels).

They can't decide whether it's EP4, EP3, or even 5,000 years ago with the confusing crap added to the game since the CU.

In fact, almost NOTHING added since JTL has anything to do with the timeline.  It seems to be based on some alternate reality where the GCW is largely unfought, technology and people from 5,000 years ago can appear and are more powerful than now, and that the Empire tolerates thousands of Jedi to roam around in full robes and with lightsabers openly carried.

well right there it can't be done. everyone knows the "specials" constantly missfire......

arguing with a corporate fanboi is like teaching special education.
even if you teach him something...at the end of the day he's still retarded.

The "smoothness" buff slows the combat of you, and everyone within  1,000 M of you down to max 1 attack per second.  Therefore it WILL work...  everytime.  Just as pre NGE combat did.

If SOE included Lando it'd be as a trader, right? I saw the movies when they came out and I'm sure he didn't do that much trading. He was running a gas mining operation that had some ships strategicaly placed at "Smedley's blackhole" which released insane quantities of deadly methane gas on a regular basis. Perhaps they might put this ingame and discard the fact that he was made an Admiral and flew into a Death Star and destroyed it in a massive fleet battle in which he was one of the rebels directing it. Oh yeah but that was RotJ and not part of the current time line right? Because if Lando was in it you'd have to have Han frozen in carbonite at Jabba's palace, but where did all the Jedi suddenly appear from?

Oh screw it, I say we have the entire cast of all Star Wars movies in game and split into one rebel and one imperial group. Then they tour the universe in performing groups competing as "La Follies", after watching an entire performance your character gets an Imperial or Rebel straight jacket and six rolls of unique SOE rubber wall paper.
