I am guessing this is a conversion from the Marvel game and not truely based on the Champions ruleset but rather the universe. I guess that is OK but I loved playing Champions. it was a great game. I am looking forward to a new Supers MMO. I played COX for quite some time but the combat system in Champions Online appears more action oriented.
I hope have some good knockback rules/animations, etc as that was a fun part of the Champions games system, knocking a baddy through a wall...yippie!

As a matter of fact, I seem to remember reading on the official site that they had taken the P&p Champions rules as a basis for their gamedesign, though of course some serious changes will have to be made so that we get something playable as an MMORPG
I sure hope they use the pnp Champions ruleset for the design, they would crazy not too. It has the best character customization ever in a rpg, imo.
Why do people find it so much easier to post to a forum than to read the official site?

Thanks for the link JelloB2000,
If they use a skill-based type system that allows total freedom somewhat, then I'll be happy. They stated customization is going to be big part of the game as far choice of characters. Let's hope it's vast and diverse.
And lets hope we can all get in before all of the good names are taken so we dont have to name our characters things like "XxLeeTdUDe3600xX"

Hint: avoid names that start with Night-, Star-, and Captain, or names that end with -wolf, -claw, and -star.
(That was a joke -- my point is, don't be a cliché, and you'll have better luck.)

I totally agree. Just need to be more creative. Of course, all the mainstream names are going to be gobbled up. Still leaves plenty of names out there.
Well, I always think out of the box when naming a character and pride myself on original names. But games like this usually hit there name saturation point fairly quickly so that I find myself having to dig pretty deep to get a good name. Unlike other MMOs where you can come up a fantasy sounding name just by stringing some letters together in a superhero MMO names take on a new importance.
Of course the few times I demoed COX I was amazed at the number of names just like the example I gave, and most of those I think were chosen on purpose.

the ironic part of that link, is that it is mr. statesman himself talking.
could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?
I often have a hard time getting my name in any game I play. It doesn't help the fact that it's a frequently heard name in all the Elder Scrolls games... It helps to have a few other good names that you like for back ups just in case, just try not to steal any names you've seen others use in other games.
Anyway, the character creation in CoX is the first and only system that I've actually been able to imagine a character look, and then build it without any problems whatsoever. The only thing that prevented me from subbing to this game after my trial was the incredibly bland and boring environment. It was cool to run through the city at first, but after about an hour the novelty effect wore off and it all looked the same to me. I would atleast check out Champions online if they could boast an equivilant character creation and a unique world.
