So I have just finished downloading another couple of free to play MMORPG's. They all are basically the same, in that there is virtually no story to them, and the game involves a mind-numbing amount of hours of grinding.
Some of these games have excellent production values, as good as any pay2play, so surely there must be at least one that is not just about the grind.
I understand that the bulk of these games are Asian in origin, and that for cultural reasons, the grind is the key aspect them, but surely there is one that is more story based.
If anyone has any knowledge of where I can find such a game, I'd appreciate it.

OK Using MMORPG finder, PLaced in F2P games, of any Genre and any graphics (2D or 3D) searching for Less grinding first and Immersion second.
Less Grinding
Immersion
Below are suggestions for MMORPGs to investigate based on the criteria that you placed. The lists below are generated based on a consensus from many reviews from multiple sources. The games listed at the top of the lists are those which best match your input criteria. However, it is not to say that those games are THE best. Every game is a unique. Gameplay experience will vary from player to player. It is our hope that this code can give you some solid leads and send you in the right direction. I wrote an article on how to find a new MMORPG..you can find it HERE
Sequential Method
This method ranks all MMORPGs based on the first desired feature, chosing the best and then ranking the remaining upon the second criteria, then the third, etc.
Cumulative Method
This method ranks all MMORPGs based on the cumulative total of all desired features. Each feature you selected is given equal weight.
On the P2P side, I would strongly recoomend Guild Wars as a very low grinding MMORPG with a very good storyline. Also DAOC may be something to look into as well
Good Luck
Torrential: DAOC (Pendragon)
Awned: World of Warcraft (Lothar)
Torren: Warhammer Online (Praag)
Hi,
Hmmm, I'm looking at your list and I have to say somethings aren't right. Like the fact you say he got to try Holic online, holic online a brainless grinding game and I think Goonzu is a typical grinding game aswell! So like the games that are on your list I would suggest Dungeon Runners and Voyage Century!
You might want to give Perfect World a go.
2nd Life needs... more than what it is to become a possible 'game', imho. 2nd Life is more like someone took AOL chatrooms and put skins and a virtual world around them, threw in advertisements, and a heavy dose of the SIM's.
I'm not saying that to flame 2nd Life as a product. I'm just saying that I would never recommend 2nd Life to anyone looking for 'a game'.
I know 2nd Life has a lot of customers. I know it has a role and it's a product that is capable of performing several functions. I just don't see it as 'a game', really.
im not into sandbox type of games
And by the way shouldn't this thread be in the looking for game section ?
I was kind of looking for the same... seems majority of the games out there now lack a storyline and focus on grinding all the time. I am playing Elf online now, and it isn't as bad as some, but I still think I will get tired of the grinding before long. The first 15 levels go so quick then all of a sudden it slows down a lot unless you get a grp with higher levels and kill stuff a lot bigger. So far that hasn't been much of an option though either as not many people around.
If you're willing to buy the box, Guild Wars has no grind at all. The level cap is 20 and you can reach that in around 2 days of playing quite a bit, probably a week of casual play. There's no monthly fee once you've purchased the box
free = means few content means = need to hide lack of content means = grinding
Guild Wars/DDO
But ddo gets extreme grindy at lvl 20.
