When he siad they use other muscles to make up for their inabilty is like doing standing curls using both arms... if someone takes to much weight you will notice they bend their back backwards so there is a curve... this helps them lift the bar but it is not part of the excerise... if you forced that same person to do the same thing just up against the wall they probably couldnt do it, because their back could not help... did that make sense?

You prob know more then me killertwinky but I think that abs does not only ome from dieting... unless you lose a lot of wieght... situps and ab excerises are important... other wise you would have to lose way to much wieght... also a good source of protein and sugar are "powerbars" and such... they are disgusting but they give you a good amount of proteing and sugar while keeping fat low and over all coliores...  Also if you would like to lose wieght you should run long distances before meals... this will increase the motabolizime of your body so it is easier to process the food, and less fat gain...

Yes, you did a superb job of explaining what I had tried to explain.  Another example is when you see someone on the flat bench and they have more weight then their arms/shoulders/chest can support, they'll arch their back to move the weight.  It doesnt do any good for the person to do that, they'll use too much energy and wear the muscle out a lot quicker.

I think that abs does not only come from dieting... unless you lose a lot of wieght... situps and ab excerises are important... other wise you would have to lose way to much wieght... also a good source of protein and sugar are "powerbars" and such... they are disgusting but they give you a good amount of proteing and sugar while keeping fat low and over all coliores...  Also if you would like to lose wieght you should run long distances before meals... this will increase the motabolizime of your body so it is easier to process the food, and less fat gain...

That's also true to some extent.  If someone has a HUGE stomach and they try to do sit-ups and want to see results, they're waisting their time, but if someone has a good figure, and they feel that they have lost a lot of weight, or have a decent shape already, then yes, you will want to work them.

I was using "Overweight" people as a standpoint because a lot of bigger people just work their stomach by doing Ab routines without the diet, thus...making the work-out almost pointless.

BMI is BS!  it doesn't factor in that not everyone is a string bean!  it favors tall bony people over short and stout people.  I'm starting to favor how the USMC just looks at you to judge if you're a fatty.

I've been in the army eight years.  make sure what you sign up to do actually sounds fun.  Or something that has skills you can use if you get out.  I'm sure someone already said that to you.  Any other info you want just let me know.

Here's a pic from the 2004 Olympics in Athens. Support the USA team!

Eww... while I was searching for pictures, I came across a pic of some guy that got his head cut off while he was on the bench press. It was nasty! I saved you the trouble of ever having to see that pic.

Im 6ft 180lbs which listed my BMI at 24. And to those who are thinking thats overwieght, its defintely not. infact its near perfect for my hieght. If I could lose any weight, it would be 10lbs max.

certain MOS's may not be available for a 2 year enlistment.  it does seem to go fast.  like Satellite Communications will want to enlist for 4-6 years minimum so they can get the money they invested in training you out of you.

I did the protein shake thing back when. You don't really need to. There are enough foods out ther to get all the protein you need. I did the raw egg thing too until I go food poisoning and had to drive myself to the ER with my head hanging out the car. Don't even remember walking into the ER. Just sort of came to with an IV in my arm and one of those "air-vented" hospital gowns on.

I work out when I can, but I mostly do strength training. I don't go for toning workouts or anything. My BMI is totally inaccuarate, says it is at 35. I weigh 255 but I bench 350 and squat almost 800, so no, BMI is jacked unless you are just an inactive slug.

For buff people, it doesn't work. It says you're obese or overweight. But anyone with a brain knows that means in shape with big muscles!
