Need somethin new... any ideas?

Hey all... I could use some advice. Currently I'm playing the WoW but I'm getting pretty sick of it. I'm not 100% sure what it is, wether it's repetitive quests, the community, the lore (or lack of), or all of the above... but I think it's just time to move on. I think my biggest issue is I'm sick of class based games.

My frist mmo was AC (way back in the day... back in it's prime when you actually had to figure out the spell comps just to learn a spell). I went from there to DAoC, which was awesome for the longest time as well, but just lost it's luster. Then I moved on to SWG (tail end of pre-CU and throughout the CU), and like billions of others, quit due to the NGE, but that's a whole other thread that I'm sure has been beat into the ground by now.

What I've learned from all of these, is I like skill based games, with more complex pvp areas. By far the best pvp game was (and I believe still is) DAoC. However, the most fun I think I had was SWG due to the character uniqueness... and I'm just a huge SW geek. Yes I've heard about the emu, and I've checked in on it here and there, but who knows when that thing is going to be done, and even then who knows if the communities will be full enough for me to enjoy. (I like the medium to larger servers)

Any advice on something to try out would be awesome. I think I might try LOTRO cause I think the lore involved would be great to dive into... (I also like to roleplay a bit. RP'd a drug runner for a while on SWG . Thanks everyone!

Ok well if you really want a skill based game maybe try Runescape, A Tale in the Desert, or EVE. I would recommend EVE the most as Runescape generally just sucks and a Tale in the Desert is just so far behind in so many ways (not to mention it doesn't really have a combat system).

I would have to agree about EVE. Runescape to me was totally boring and pointless and slow. Tabula Rasa looks like it could be good, but I haven't actually played it yet. And although there are a lot of similarities Everquest is always good, for me anyhow, some people don't like it but I have been on there since opening of PS2 version (have account for EQPC but my computer has issues with it). Vanguard may also be one to check out. And the new Age of Conan when it is released.

You would enjoy The Saga of Ryzom. Here's to hoping the servers are back up soon.

    Thx for the replies.

I tried Eve... it seems like an amazing game but very repetative for the casual gamer. And it seems a little hard to get started doing anything... different. I didn't give it much of a chance tho so I may have to try again

What about EQ tho? That's one that I never tried and wanted to way back in my AC days, but felt like I was being unloyal to my own kind just for thinking about it.  Is it still any good? I'm assuming it's pretty hard to get started with due to the servers being so old. I tried EQ2 and although it's got potential... I don't think it's for me.

Anyway, thanks again for the input! Anymore is always welcome. Doesn't necessarilly have to be for skill based games, just as long as it's not a WoW clone... which most newer games seem to be.
