Howdy, Stranger!

It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!

In-game notepad would save my life.

I would first of all like to congratulate you on creating such a fantastic game, that's also free.

I would second of all like to congratulate on making something with so much minute detail (loved the hints the barkeeper gave, not to mention the amazing details which colonies incorporate).

I would, finally, like to suggest a better way of organizing all of the information which we receive ion the game. It would be a great help to have a fully integrated "notes" system, to more easily mark all the little things that we may run across. The "flagging" system system can be very useful, but i believe that the idea needs to be taken a step further.

Examples:

1) When someone types the coordinates of a planet into the chat box, alt+left clicking on it will automatically flag it on the map.

2) Planets that you and/or your coorperation have colonies on would have some sort of distinctive marking on them. A noticeable halo, or a box with the word "C" above it (with both of these changing slightly dpending on whether you or or your company controls it) would be very nice as well.

3) Alt+Leftclicking on a planet would automatically give you its name and coordinates in a pop-up box or somesuch.

4) Double clicking on something or some location in the main-game view would automatically flag it in that view (but not necessarily in the starmap view)

5) Customizable sticky notes that would let you type things into them, that would appear in the main game view with information you entered. This would be useful for marking locations of colonies you stumbled across that still have UN protection, space stations that deal in specific goods you are looking for, etc etc.

6) To summarize, i think an integrated system needs to be created to distingush elements on the different levels which they exist (sector notes, planet notes, station notes, etc). Possibly even the idea of "anchors", to "anchor" notes to mobile objects such as planets and moons (possibly players?), versus "freefloating" notes that are only anchored to the background space.

Naturally, I'm sure such "notes" would be stored on the client side, to reduce server load.

All this would greatly enhance the gameplay experience and allow everyone to view data in a much more user friendly form.

At the moment, i am keeping all my findings on a series of papers i find lying around my computer desk, but this is a big hassle for when i travel, or for when i go to another computer in general. So perhaps it might even be possible to store the "notes" in a file, so you could email yourself the notes and download it on whatever computer you are playing the game on?

Thanks for reading this far

and congrats once again ^_^

Could there be a Seperate map graphic for star systems that DO have Starports in them?  Once you see them you can click on any given star to see If it has a Starport...but you have to manually mark them with flags if you want to keep track of them.  A tiny little metal looking 'starport icon' on the galaxy map would save a lot of trouble and help players.  Thanks.

Well, it seems that this idea has sunk under the waves.

However, i still think it is woth pursuing. Is it possible to PM (private message) Toonces directly about the feasibility of this idea?

You can talk to him if he's online, or you can send an e-mail to Toonces in the game.

But it would probably be best to send an email to support@playtechtonics.com , although I'm pretty sure that that is unnecessary because I would be very surprised if Aaron hasn't seen this post and hasn't also considered implementing this idea.
