Boyz today aoc looks like a failure in the hands of funcom entertainment.. yesterday ign went there and gave this interview or watever about it..

- there will be loss of exp if you keep dieing.. so making it hard to lvl..

-The whole point of the system is for only the most skilled players to rise to the top, instead of having everyone who put in enough time eventually get to the highest PvP level. Once you do get high enough, special equipment unlocks and becomes available for purchase, and the gear is supposed to be extremely powerful. It'll be comparable to raid gear, though its statistical bonuses will benefit PvP play more than PvE. According to Gaute, raid gear will be more accessible than the high-level PvP gear. The idea is, every month, to update things so new items are available for the dedicated player. Though there'll only be 10 levels to start out with, the periodic updates should eventually add more levels along with items, reigniting the contest for king of PvP over and over again.

its all in this article ill link..

What so you have to work to be good at PvP oh the horror.

And I'm glad this high end PvP gear will be equal to high end PvE gear sounds to me like it will add multiple options as to how you want to go about the game.  Plus from what I read / hear it sounds as though crafted equipment, PvE gear and PvP gear will all be = leet.  This imo is great because I like many are tired of the endless oh lets go do a hundred raids just to loot the good stuff and be on par with everyone else.  Players like options AoC offer this.  Plus updating the PvP system with new levels will as they say keep PvP chaing and not the same slugfest.

Besides that does WAR have bad ass rhino and war mammoth mounts and full mounted combat.  Does WAR have 3 different types of PvP? Does WAR have the ability to make your own spells? Does WAR have a real time combat system with combos?  And last but not least does WAR have boobs?

    No? Didn't think so?

It makes me happy that they made the game a challenge rather than the same grind every mmo to date has been.

translation: i want everything handed to me like wow. im not the best pvper out there nor do intend on becoming the best b/c i have a life. but for those who have no lives and want something to aspire to, making pvp lvling difficult is fine by me.

  • URMAKERURMAKER Member UncommonPosts: 671

i have to admit not a fan of this idea. sounds like wow all over again. i canceled my wow account when i found out you have to have a certain arena rating now(in season 4) just to get the bg honor rewards(boots, belt, etc) that means you have to do arenas to compete. while aoc's system is different than wows arena my point is that its a non causal friendly gear grind.

it won't be bad at the start but over time you'll have the old gear gap problems that wow has. what happens when someone whos new to the game or someone who levels up an alt runs into someone whos already spent several months grinding pvp gear...i think you know.

I have to say I'll probably suck ass at PvP.  And chances are my life and laziness will get in the way of me getting better but thats no excuse to think the PvP system is stupid.  Im going to try it and if its to hard i'll try harder or PvE and craft instead.

I learned long ago that one should keep an open mind with the many aspects of MMOs.  Furthermore a person should play whatever part of the game he or she finds most fun and appealing and not claim the ones he or she fails at to be stupid.

EDIT : And another thing that I love to fucking death about the instanced PvP battles in AoC is the fact that you can enter the the instanced battles at like level 17 and it rounds up your level to level 20 and puts you in an instance with other level 20s.  That for me is amazing i'm so tired of it beeing an endless PvE grind to the endless PvP battlegorund slug fest endgame.

You CLEARLY don't even understand what your reading.

ANd have you even WATCHED a WAR video lately? B-quality is an understatement.

1: This is for PvP levels. Not everyone is meant to be lvl 20 in their PvP lvls. It's meant to be something extremely difficult. Because you loose PvP xp when you die only the best players will ever get there. Similarly to how in DAoC only the best players ever really maxed out their rank.

2: You don't need to be PvP Lvl 20 to participate in the open end game PvP. Unlike WAR where 70% of the PvP is instanced (even the city capturing is partially instanced.) And nothing matters in the end because after fighting to capture a city, the game almost forces the attackers to give it up, and then the whole system resets again.

no matter how big a fanboy you are its stupid to make crap up like this.

so... you'd prefer to be rewarded in pvp by how much time you play rather than how well you play the game...?

I don't like that. If you are good at the game you get the highest levels. If you fail at it, maybe try a different game? Don't know what to tell you...

...also, loss of exp is certainly not that big of death penalty... most MMORPG's excluding WoW use this as their death penalty. It's basically choose between run to your corpse, lose exp, lose gear, or get temporary skill debuffs. I like the lose exp one the best.

Exp loss has been in MMOs for so long now (though I prefer no exp loss).   As for WAR being better than AoC, we'll see about that.  I'm personally more excited about WAR, but only time will tell.  Theres a good chance that both of them will be great games.  This genre really needs them.

  • MahjeMahje Member Posts: 135

I got sick of the casual player base from WoW getting the same items, rewards should be based upon skill and not time. Haven't played any online game since about 1 year but w8ing for my AoC CE box to break this "bad" behavior.. :P

This is such great news, i'm so glad that they made the pvp this "hardcore"(I wouldn't even call it HC since it should be standard..).

Btw, i might be wrong but as i understood it; you can't loose pvp lvl by death just pvp exp.

    Quoted for epic truth.

I am looking forward to AoC more but I do think WAR will be a worthy and good game.

Want some cheese with your whine? Dear lord, not everone deserves to be in the highest ranks for pvp. Rank is meaningless if everyone eventually achieves it.  As for raids.. why the hell shouldn't people be rewarded for difficult encounters that take multiple groups?

:edit As for exp loss. Suck it up buttercup. I played everquest when one could lose multiple days worth of exp even with a clerics res.

  • RykerRyker Member UncommonPosts: 207

It wont be about skill to get you pvp lvls it will be about how much time you have to invest in it. Geeze some of you sound like those guys that pvp on a pve server in WOW  talking about what mad pvp skilz they have lol.

  • ElRenmazuoElRenmazuo Member RarePosts: 5,361

I like the idea of exp loss as it makes death more painful as death should be.  But I doubt the loss is as much as Final Fantasy 11 where especialy if your high level and you die, it makes you want to crawl up in a corner in a fetus position because you just lost a day or two of exp.
