Hey!
This isn't a thread to start a petition or any of that. As of right now it looks like we aren't going to have RP PvE servers for either NA or EU. This thread is to point folks in both NA and EU who are interested in going to an unofficial RP PvE server to others who want the same.
This thread is not to debate which is "better" or what is "true RP". There are plenty of other threads for that. As stated above, this thread is only to guide people who have looked at their options and based on their likes and dislikes would like to play in a RP PvE game environment.

Lately i am bored out of my mind and i installed the UO client with the new enhanced graphics. Just to look how it is. After the 15 mins tutorial i entered the starter city and was welcomed by a player IC
Yeah, really. He crafted me a set of armour and a sword and stayed IC all the time. Man... how i missed that. *wipes away a tear*

I dont know if AoC is going to deliver. But i wouldnt mind to play on a international server with switched off fatalities to not compromise any national rating.

All folks interested in this idea should get together and have a secret handshake..and..and..um we can write invisible letters on REAL PAPER with lemon juice! We gotta do this 'cuase if we don't the unbelievers are gonna come in swarms just to laugh at us and call us Monkey McButterNutz and stuff like dat! And then we gotta kill em cause TRUE RP'ers wouldn't turn the other cheek, not in a Conan world! And then we gotta go to war (the action not the game) and start attacking their PvP and PvE servers ..and and....the carnage...oh the carnage!

I've been hoping someone would pick up this idea (preferably the Devs but if not this will do) so I'll sign on. I do think though that picking name/number would be best held of to see how the types of servers are run out. A PvE server is almost a must so by getting the list of that 'type' first then choosing a name from that seems a logical way to progress to me.

Voted already, and I am a non-american who participate also in other MMO forum based on my country. Mostly of us are interested on RP and enjoys PvP (therefore will NOT go to a PvP server, since the PvP FFA is a gank feast and real PvPers want meaningfull PvP, not Counter-Striker with a sword, and the PvE will have plenty of it server have it on border kingdom), then I will ask them to help to make this the unnoficial RP server as well...

So the unnoficial RP PVE server is called WICCAN, any idea what the EU one is called?
Edit: Looks like the EU server is called BORI. Correct me if I am wrong.
I think I'd prefer an RP pve server. Count me in
I'll be making a toon on Wiccana and one on the RP PvP server as well. I pray I do not have call out on Saturday night so I can play for a bit, before heading to Barbados on Sunday. That way I can get established on the PvP server. ^_^
Here's hoping that if AoC is successful they devote some resources to having GMs monitor an official RP-PvE server.
Not that I'll be playing on it but RP-PvErs deserve it.
My only concern is how well the 'game cops' are going to be policing the areas. This applies to all the servers, not just RP related but the unofficial ones will probably get less official attention. Having a dozen variations of 'douchebag' (does anyone else find that term abhorrent?) might detract from a party trying to RP.
with the lore established in the books/movies How could you even try to say there would be such a thing as an RP-PvE server? That sounds sooo off to me.
The lore doesn't even hint at mass people all holding hands and only going to outlying zones in order to kill each other, its dark, its a blood bath... If your an RPer you should be ok with that as it would be "in character" and correct to lore. Now, if your not interested in the lore at all and are only interested in pretending to be, so you can try to hit on the female chars or some such, that is just stupid imho.
Guess we won't see you there, Spector. People who want to RP want to be left alone o do what they enjoy i.e. RP. Thats hard to do when people end up griefing you left, right and center. Will the RP-PvP serve always be like that? Probably not. The unique happy feeling of camping crossroads/bottlenecks in the terrain will wear off and people won't do it as much. Still and all, some will always want to just for the sake of feeling good and hoping to see their e-peens grow (what do females greifers grow...?)
People who take enjoyment playing in character don't want to be bothered with the frustration, generally. Sort of a live and let live policy. You give up certain aspects to gain the freedom of others.
You do what suits you. We aren't going to make comments at your style of play..so don't knock those styles/choices adopted by RP'ers.
my comment was not a knock at RP'ers, it was a knock at selective RP'ers, Rather then rping the lore and all of the stuff that has been put out there for you. You prefer ignore the lore and RP the character, that leads for a rather hollow form of RP.
Funcom agreed with that i am saying and that is why there will be no offical RP-PvE server in AoC they know full well there can never be a true RP setting where Murderers, rapists, and assassins can roam freely, its as much apart of the lore as conan himself.
Getting griefed will suck no one will deny that, but as you said it will fade, and if nothing else getting killed by random jerks who have nothing better to do would MORE emmersive as to what the lore to the game has set out.
People have to realize your not RPing in something like LOTRO, or anything like that... you are RPing in a game about killing, about chopping off the persons head next to you because the looked at you wrong. It would be like playing SWG and saying you were RPing an imperial and walking by an overt rebel.... There is NO Role-Play in that, it is just going against the lore.
Not everyone in AoC lore was a random head chopper. Also, you said it yourself. This is an MMO. Your life isn't really on the block. You die, you rez. There are some things you have to 'adjust' when RP'ing in an MMO. If you give up the realism of having random attacks come out of nowhere at any given time, you balance it with being able to pick 'normal' combat when and where you want to. NPCs. NPCs want to live too..(in a sense) and will defend themselves accordingly. *shrug* It all comes down to how you want to play it. But I don't think it comes down to the somewhat caustic remarks of your first comment against the 'unofficial' Rp-Pve Server.
I'm one of the people thinking Funcom has missed the point on Conan world and that such an merciless and senseless PvP will not be good. I've already decided I will not buy and not play the game.
Now if there will be such type of server I can change my mind.
