GTA4 just came out, and of course it isn't for PC. I really want to play the Force Unleashed when it's realeased in September. And again, it wont be released for PC. There are several games I want to play, but they aren't on the PC. In fact, I heard that the new MMO Age of Conan, will be out for Xbox in the fall. So is the end of MMO's on the PC ?? In case you haven't noticed, the PC trend is getting worse.
So I want to buy a console, but not sure which one is better. I like the fact that with the PS3 you don't have to pay for online, and it is also a bluray player. But I've been told that the Xbox is a better system, and from the looks of it, it is the one to have for future MMO's. So I want all the pros and cons for each system and your honest opinion.

If you want MMO's, you're not going to be satisfied with either of them. There are very few upcomming console mmo's and all of them will be avaible on PC as well.
If you want a console for non - mmo games, I'd definitly get a PS3. It's has the best 2008 - 2009 lineup.
Xbox has had FFXI for years now :]
I think xbox 360 is worlds better than ps3
it's more personal preference... i think they're still making ps2 games? someone correct me
cause nobody has a ps3

I only play PC games and I own no consoles. All of my friends that play console games have Xbox 360 though. A couple also have a Wii.
I'm sure this offered you little information and absolutely no help, but that's my specialty.
Everyone I know that has a console has an Xbox 360, they wont get a ps3 because theres no games for it and wii is more like a party console theres not a lot of games for it either..
But the only console game I ever play is Guitar Hero 3 and i heard thats on ps3 too so really its your call..
360 overheats a lot(See: red ring of death) and ps3 is an expensive table ornament

The 360 by far. I have one and enjoy it immensely. Trust me...the small fee for Xbox Live is worth it!
You'll find that there are already two MMOs for the 360 (that I know of), in the name of Final Fantasy XI and Phantasy Star Universe. Plus, as you mentioned, Age of Conan, Warhammer Online (from what I know) and Huxley will be headed its way too.
Offline-wise, the 360's games beat the PS3's by far anyway. The only series for the latter I'm interested in is Final Fantasy. I'm not really into the whole Metal Gear Solid thing. I used to be a huge Sony fan, but this generation Sony kinda cut their own throats.
I have all of them. PC, 360, PS3 and Wii.
And as for my opinion, I'd definately, without a doubt, get the 360 over any of them. The entire interface is ALOT more streamlined. I swear anytime I want to use my PS3, I have to sit for 30 minutes to do some stupid update, whether it's firmware or game update. Sure the PS3 has a couple things that are "better", blue-ray, web browser, and bluetooth, but it's not what should sell the system.
I've played games the same games on both systems, and I can't tell a difference really. Except for the fact I prefer the 360 controller completely.
Honestly, the only thing I use my PS3 for is to watch movies. DVD and Blu-ray. For that reason, I like it. But even then it's cumbersome.
I do look forward to MGS4, FFXIII, and Little Big Planet......but if they were to come out on 360, I'd by the 360 version without even thinking about it.
On a side note....as for the Wii......I'm not entirely sure I like it very much. The graphics and sound are just SO far behind the 360 and PS3, it feels like I'm playing a last gen console and games. And the games, as much as they are hyped, just seem childish to me in every aspect. I try and try to get the "fun" out of them, and alot of times they deliver, but more often than not, it's hard to shake that last-gen feel.
If you had to choose between the two I would pick Xbox.
I had a PS3 and returned it. Just not enough games for me.
People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.
Going off-topic, but could you imagine a fantasy MMO for Wii? Gives new meaning to the term 'buff bot'.
I'll stick with my PS3, its got a really nice blu-ray player and I'm in no hurry with the games. I'll take them as they come. I played Halo 2 on XBOX but it was just another fps and the massive reports of people returning 360s I just don't feel like taking the chance.
Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL!
i bought a ps3 for the bluray first and the games second.
i think i played about 90 minutes of games in the six months since i bought it.
for console gaming, multiplayer or singleplay- id have to say 360, although i never played it myself.
chips, dips chains & whips.
I own neither- but I'm going to get a PS3 if I ever decide to get one. I liked the Xbox360 until Blu-ray won the format war and HD DVD was effectively discontinued.
If you wait though GTAIV will be out for PC. Might take 6 months to a year... but it'll come.
Hope you got your things together. Hope you are quite prepared to die. Looks like we're in for nasty weather. ... There's a bad moon on the rise.
I'd go for PS3 because it has free online, blueray, internet browser, can handle better graphics and has a better game line up for this year and next year. But hey its just my opinion..
?
I would also go with the PS3 if I ever got a console. For the reasons stated above. Also I don't really find the 360 having more titles to be a plus. It doesn't really matter how many titles you push, what matters is how many good titles you push. When you look at that, then the list narrows to things that are cross-platform.
Neither. PC provides state of the art gaming.
360. Far more and better games. Last time I looked into it, the PS3 had about 3 decent exclusive games.
people who say that there are many good xbox exclusive games. Could you pls name some(no Halo pls)
I would definitely have to say PS3. I had a 360 and returned it for a PS3 and I am happy. You can't beat what you are getting - a top notch blu-ray player and a polished gaming system with built-in wifi/bluetooth. It's true that the PS3 got off to a slow start, but if you are thinking about the future I think it's the way to go.
Right, it's not the quanity, it's the quality.
I'd go with 360 for many reasons. Good game wize (other then halo) Rainbow 6 vegas, Assassins creed (thats out for pc, xbox, and ps3 though same with vegas I believe).
Ninja Gaiden 2 (coming out june i'm so excited ) Tom clancy's endwar (for pc and ps3 too though). Gears of War and number 2 is coming at the end of this year.
Halo wars (thats just me i'm looking forward to it).
there is Cod4 but thats for all the other systems to. Those are some there are others I just don't want to think about right now.
xbox 360 has better games (in my opinion) more games, and the graphics are just the same as ps3 that i'v seen (in my opinion there is no difference in graphics from what I see but w/e).
Well I have both PS3 and 360 I enjoy playing the PS3 far more than the 360. The only things that annoy me about the PS3 is the £10 extra for the same game as the 360 and also the cost of the console. Though Metal Gear is out soon, Final Fantasy is on its way, Mirror's Edge looks stunning and also Tekken 6 is out next year so in the long run if I had to pick one I'd choose the PS3.

ps3 esspiccly if you look at gtaiv with the performance : ) diffrence
They were talking about the servers being jammed up with the release of GTA4.
What the hell are they talking about? The only games with servers are MMO's.
Why would I go buy a console and play a game and be on a server?? Sorry if it sounds stupid, but i don't get it.
I would have to say the PS3 and I have all 3 systems btw. Mainly because most of the games you prolly want to play are prolly cross platform and PS3 has better performance than 360. Plus all the goodies everyone else already pointed out such as blu-ray and browser, free online. Also there will be tons of major titles coming out in the next 2 years that are exclusive to PS3 such as MGS4, FF13, FF versus 13, Killzone 2, little big planet, and titles that are already out such as Uncharted which is freakin awsome and Heavenly Sword. Those are just off the top of my head.
When it comes to mmos there will be The Agency the MMOFPS exclusive to PS3 which I know of right now. Also their online thing the Playstation Network is going become a full virtual environment later this year or early next year which will be free I think and its kind of like an mmo where you get to make your own room and go out with your avatar and meet people to chat or play games.
If your getting a PS3 make sure you get the Metal gear 4 bundle which comes with Metal gear 4, Metal Gear Online, the new wirless dual shock controll, 60-80 gig hardrive all for 500 dollars.
Multiplayer games of any kind usually require some type of server. Without it, the only way to multiplayer would be peer 2 peer. Considering most people who connect use cable which has a slow upstream(but still faster then DSL). Using peer 2 peer really isn't plausible.
Most of the time we see this in the form of dedicated servers. Usually enthusiasts like Clans, or portals like Gamespy run these. Not sure if the Dedicated Server software is out for GTAIV yet.
Oh yeah, I've already checked in to that, it will be an 80G Hard drive with the game and the new cool controller, plus some other stuff. And so far the poll is leaning towards PS3. But I'm not rushing in to it.
