Well I for one am done

after playing this game for about 10 hours a day for the last 2 months I can finally say that the lack of dev/gm passion for this game has drained on me to the point that I just can't take it any more.  The latest drama is that they nerfed about ever brits fav mish, making it nearly impossible to grind out the cash for the very expencive 1st/2nd rates.  I'm not whining it was a great game or else I wouldn't have played it for so long... and I don't want to detour someone from giving it a chance, but if you get as passionate as I do about the game you play, and expect your dev team to have the same passion don't think for one second that FLS will deliver.

Good for you! If more people would vote with their wallet developers would stop half-assing it.

My favorite move by the devlopers was introducing underdog tools to counter server imbalances, then, later using server merges to address balance without removing the underdog tools.

So now, the underdogs, who in some cases outnumber the winning faction, receive an advantage, while the winning faction has a great deal of difficulty flipping the underdogs ports.

Way to go FLS, tinker with the game mindlessly.

Maybe bad games that shamelessly cater to griefers should get shut down.

    So let them shut down.

So long as this half baked thign is alive nobody will touch age of sail setting for an MMO.

Much in the same way as nobody will touch Star Wars so long as SWG is still crawling along.

Right, I forgot Rusty's phantom hordes that are paying for the game and not logging in to play it.

In the meantime POTBS fell from 11 to 4 servers, and the remaining four are thinly populated.

Good - the game should never have been released with more than 4 servers!

The remaining 4 are fairly well populated & has transformed the game for many players, there is actually some decent PvP going on.

On top of that there is a free trial coming shortly & i am confident that the servers will fill up.

Not likely, given the history of MMO's and what occurs after server mergers.  Should PotBS servers go to max, that would be an exception to the norm.

Given history, likeliness is to be a surge/spike during the merge (of the servers to remain in use), until a month or two of which a downward trend begins.

    And that is why...

Conservatives' pessimism is conducive to their happiness in three ways. First, they are rarely surprised -- they are right more often than not about the course of events. Second, when they are wrong they are happy to be so. Third, because pessimistic conservatives put not their faith in princes -- government -- they accept that happiness is a function of fending for oneself. They believe that happiness is an activity -- it is inseparable from the pursuit of happiness.

lol guess you nvr check the real-time of who is really on cause its quite sad.. potbs.armeagle.nl shows that these populated servers you speak of are not even moderate for the most part... even in peak hours. so much for that statement

p.s. oh yeah and if you think invite a friend trials that mostly only gold spammers use can save this game... i'd have to say i disagree.  I would like to know the real pop of the game minus the amount of gold spammers already on

People who play on the free trial will just find out how bad the game is without having to shell out $50 to buy the box. They are the lucky ones...

lol i just made a post on the potbs forums about this same thing saying how if it wasnt for the player agg we all had to sign i'd be demanding a refund :) my whole point was that if they need a large pop of gamers to find out how broken there game still was we shouldn't have to pay for it.  its called beta testing

Now you told smg777, man, you nailed it. Arguments stated are invalid because player dosn't like ganking and griefing.

We all know carebears are has no business in a PvP game and they should stop whining and go play Hello Kitty Online.

Well, my dear fellow, I am sorry to point out that POTBS isn't a PvP game. Seen any FFA servers lately or do you equate stupid red circles with PvP game?

What you don't understand is that many MORE players do not enjoy PotBS and won't pay a dime to play it.  If this is a case of business sense, you lose.

Well, any developer who caters to 1 crowd over another is a fool and deserves what PotBS has become.  By catering to PvP all the "carebears" who also paid a monthly fee to play this garbage are gone to other games, hence developer loses that subscription money, and when said griefers move on to other games said developer has dead servers and little income from said game.

    Pretty simple really.

You do realise that you can level up to 50 in Potbs without ever doing PvP or losing a ship.

That sounds like a pretty carebear game to me.

And now we are going back to turn in circles. Yes, they tried to cater to all players and faield to cater to any - save rabid fans that seem to be rather small in numbers.

OMG doom & gloom + failure! dont remember anyone saying that before.

Wrong Potbs will be around for a long time after you give up posting here - mark my words!

Oh goodie, resident cheerleader is back. Read ten rules of fanboyism - you fit quite a few points well.

Don't worry, your favourite floating mess will be around for awhile on station pass. Heck SWG is still here, three years after majority of players left and at least two years after it would be reasonable to pull the plug:)

So yes, it is safe to assume game will be around for awhile, it will go nowhere but it will be around.

    PS

Dang it, I didn't fool you? Drats, I will have to go back into my super secret cave and plot a better ploy.

I would disagree in here, althought it is on Station Pass, the game will not survive, even on SWG terms. You see, mostly of SWG players today agree that the game, as it is today, is  garbage, however they enjoy Lucas universe, to be on Tatooine, etc... Therefore you have mature players, who once a time go to SWG to remember good times if nothing more... That doesnt happen with PoBS. To play this thing, for a one year you MUST be a blind fanboy with no sense of taste and very low critic sense. There is no other excuse to play it, not even the remembering of good times of SWG or the feeling of being on the Matrix of MxO.

PoBS never had good times and never will have. Its just a piece of junk, more like MxO terms than SWG... However I'd put it under MxO terms as well.. no more than 100 or 250 players online at the end of year... On all servers... (eventually one server)

And that takes, even at a moderate pace, 2 months.  If you play every night, one month.  Then what?

At the same time, you can level to 50, by endlessely grinding on the open sea.  Actually experiencing the pve content requires running missions.  The storyline quest for the longest time was unavailable because of the red zone placed around Bluefields, and then they turned off unrest decay to force it into a perpetual bubble for the longest time.  The stroyline quest is one of the main promotions of the game, and it was all but unplayable unless you played very early in the morning or had society members escort youin and out of port to run a solo quest.

With all due respect, its statements like these by defenders of this game that strain credibility.  And I like this game.
