SWG developers really do know nothing about SWG

Read Millbarge's (SWG Developer) comments and then tell me the SWG developers know a thing about the game.  He didn't even know that BH had an Enforcer title as a default title after spending all that time working on new titles for the game.  Proof positive that those working on this game now have no clue what  they're doing.

I'd also add that the community disaster team is moderating the thread because old Millbarge let it slip that he's ignorant in matters pertaining to the game he's being paid to develop (See Elias' comments).

I sure hope that was an oversight by the devs.  SMILEY:|

LOL  I'm sure there are lots of suggestions, many of which would not make it past the profanity filter.

Above post contain the quote showing the incompetence of the developers.

Quoted just in case it gets deleted.

You know, I shouldn't be surprised by this, because these guys (the SWG devs) never, ever learn from stupid things they've done in the past.

It's been proven again and again through stupid dev admissions that they don't know of, or understand, basic game mechanisms, and the really tragic thing is they never apply the lesson learned from these incidents to future actions.

It's just amazing how amateur hour this entire operation is.

I also suspect that Millbarge spent more time putting together his sig block than learning about the class titles.

CH, Jedi, Commando, Smuggler, BH, Scout, Doctor, Chef, BE...yeah, lots of SWG time invested.

  • Millbarge is one of the kids they recently added to the Dev team.  Yes, he is clueless, in that he obviously does not play the game and has little knowledge of it.

This is one thing I love about CCP...  To the last person, their Devs are ALL hardcore EVE players and know the game inside and out.

and what shall we call millbarge?

even if you teach him something...at the end of the day he's still retarded.

I can't really blame the developers for not logging into the game, it is horrible after all.  Sadly, the only decision any of the developers have made in the past three years that has displayed any understanding of the game is to not play the game.

The game is horrible, the developers are incompetent, and the company that develops it is outright hostile towards their customers, yet there is still a small number of folks who willingly pay money to play it.  I commend SOE for cornering the self loathing MMO playerbase market.  I suppose the existence of SWG in its current form does prevent the 20K or so players from spending their time cutting themselves.

No way there's 20,000 active players, not even half that.

You are very correct about the developers.  They clearly don't PLAY the game so it doesn't surprise me they don't understand it and know what it needs.  That much is painfully obvious.

People like Obraik, Sam, ummax, and others do ALL the advertising for this game.  SOE/LEC haven't spent a dime to advertise this debacle in years...  It's funny that the fanbois actually do the work for them, and then PAY to play it, and PAY to transder their characters...

SOE must be asserting some sort of mind-control over these guys.

It was stated by Helios or Deadmeat that approx. 10% of the player population post of the forums.  Their statement not mine.

Currently in the Game Play Discussion Forum on the O boards they have a poll they has been running the last week and has 790 results.   The equates to 7900 players by their math.  Hell lets double that for any +/- people would argue over.  That is less than 16k players.

How is that not failing compared to what it was before the tragedy of the NGE?

LEC doesn't even think the game is worth the expense or effort of printing up CDs or boxes for it, so they certainly aren't going to expend the expense or effort to advertise it.  Remember, their last advertising 'blitz' was met with massive account cancellations and bad press which the game will never recover from.

Nobody at SOE or LEC are deluded enough to think SWG has a future beyond the limping along it is currently doing.  Conversely, the fanbots, that have once again decided to undertake a disinformation campaign, which will once agian fail due to how awful the game actually is, really think that if they wish hard enough and loud enough, new players will magically appear and they won't be so lonely.  These are the same folks who constantly lie that their servers are loaded with more than enough people, yet jump in any thread where some uninformed soul has the poor judgment to publicly state an interest in the game, to beg that person to join their server.  Hell, they are now going to websites that still list the boxed version of the game, such as Amazon.com, and are giving the game five star reviews and calling anyone who offers a negative, meaning factual, review of the game a troll.

All of this looks like the result of a game going through its death throws, as opposed to a game with a future.  The urgency and immaturity of the fanbots just reinforces that perception.

The really sad thing is that prior to the CU hitting they had really started working on stomping out alot of the bugs then massive game changes pissing off existing customers for potential customers that never existed.

The number most companies, ones which aren't trying to marginalize their customers' complaints, use is around 20%.  That would make the active number of players even worse.  I believe Helios also posted the 20% number later in Chris Cao's meltdown thread.  It was the number most folks who are in the industry mentioned when they commented on the thread in their blogs (or commented on and then disengenously claimed they weren't commenting on it but just making general comments).

I was thinking that the 20% number was customers logged in the game at any given time but it could have been about forum logins.  Whether it is 10%, 20%, or even 30% the population numbers are staggeringly low given this IP.

Agreed, just before CU most of the bugs were gone. But the game changes of the CU brought them back.

And that is when i lost interest, the game was more or less unplayable and 6 months later when i peaked in there were even more gamebreaking bugs,i can't lose aggro bug and the chat bugs. I made the final choice to quit giving $ and time to it after that.
