I like consels better. While mmorpgs for consoles are horrid imo , i love the rpgs way more for ps2 and psx then i do with pc. You can also sit back and chill on the couch while playing unlike pc since your most likely sitting in a chair. I like the story , gameplay and overall production of console rpgs compared to pc ones. Mainly because theres alot more garage shop rpgs and extremely amatuer made ones that area released on pc compared to ps2 although some to get through on ps2 into the market.

Oh yeah and if you have a ps2 GET/RENT silent hill 3 is an awesome game (probaly the best ive played for that genre)

I would have to say consoles. Like said above, MMOs are horrid on consoles, but the other games are great.

And consoles run very cheap, too, at least compared to PCs with the same specs.

It depends on what im playing, FPS definitely goes to the computer, no game will ever make FPS better on console than on computer, i dont care if you Halo fanboys disagree cause Halo on computer is ten times better on PC. RPGs can go either way, personally the ones for computer have better storlyine(i.e BG series, Planescape Torment) and the PC offer more options and technical capabilities than the console(i.e Neverwinter Nights). I think there are two genres that the console is out performs compared to the PC and its sports games and platfromers

I think consoles in the long run are better.  They're made specifically for playing games and this allows the devs to put more emphasis on the creating a system that is perfect for games without having to worry about it's ability to run numerous other things, whereas a computer is made to do a number of things besides play games.  Though you can order computers that are more specifically for gaming, they tend to be rediculously expensive compared to consoles.  Also as said before I think that because a console's single focus are the games, this puts pressure on the game devs to take more time and put more effort into their games.  And no "out of the garage" games (as said before, lol I like that term).  Overall consoles are cheaper, easier (more comfortable) to play on, and put more pressure on their devs to do a good job (not always though lol).

Also, there will be plenty of FPS games that will come to console that will rival PC FPS games; this I'm sure of.  Someone above said they won't and IMO this just isn't true.  There will be plenty in the future.

i just think that PCs are are always going to be technically better than consoles, especially for online play. There have been great advancements in console online gaming but no where near to the level of the PC. Also whoever says that FPSs are going to be as good.....i disagree cause nothing on a console will ever be able to imitate the use of a mouse and keyboard.

like someone else said console gaming is more open to the public while if you want to get the same gaming experince froma computer you need to dish out the doh.... computer specifications are ranged so its hard for devlopers to come out with the exact specifications the game will need... on the other hand the computer allows for more control over  the game to do more buttons and mouse... console is better for relaxing and playing a game while the computer spanks the console in the extant of control over a game...

    Consule VS PC

Depends on what you would like financially.

Pc/Comps: Spend some money ocuple houndreds to couple Thousand. Have for lots of years. You can upgrade your system for 200 dollars or more on diff chips Graphics or Ram. Upgrade running systems BIOS and others.Constant flow of games come to the PC. Graphics change spend some money and upgrade.

Consules: There great and all but think also financially. Most can be carried and droped pop spills teens and adults having fun kick it and on and on. Games usually keep constant graphics ounce the cunsoles max if reached. Think PS2 yes great system but then the gloriffied Xbox comes along new graphics gee lets spend 300 dollars for a cunsole that will last one or two years. 100 200 dollars month renting 300 month buying games. And no games are free. Cant download music. Dreaded controllers on and on

People prever diff things i preffer PC its easier get bored download something else cunsole get bored buy something else. Simple facts my friends.

I think we already have a couple of threads like this running around here on the site, but hey, they are probably buried so deep in the off-topic section you couldn't find em.

I own both a PC and an XBox, and I also enjoy playing on my best friends PS2. I spend alot more time on my PC than I do on my XBox. That doesn't mean I don't enjoy my XBox. I play NCAA Football 2004, well now 2005, and Ninja Gaiden on it quite a bit, and I'm looking forward to Fable and Halo 2 this fall. It's nice to be able to watch DVDs off of the XBox in the bedroom too.

I think there is room for both the PC and gaming console. There is a market niche for both. Most of us started out gaming on one console system or another. Right now though, nothing beats a PC for playing an mmog, mmoprg or an FPS online. I also like the fact you can buy a game like BF and UT2k4 and download mods that can make the game look and play like a totally different game than it origianlly was.

I say that sports and fighting game titles are more fun on consoles while FPS, RPGs and mmogs are more fun on PCs. Fable is going to be a really good rpg though for the Xbox.

Since I've been a member at this site there have been like 10 threads that I can think of regarding this topic.

I've come to the following conclusion

    PC Gamer= Hardcore Gamer

    Console Gamer= Casual Gamer

Of course that is a general statement...but IMO this is the case most of the time

Most console owners have a PC. This has nothing to do with it.

Most PC enthusiasts who are against consoles just don't have one and do not understand the benfits.

I think the computer has the best games and graphics. It is so much better than the consoles. The only one I really like is X-box and it doesn't hold a candle to my computer. DO you like bananas?image

Computers and the games that come out for them are far better in general imo.  Most platform games bore me pretty quick and I rarely finnish one.  The computer games I have played have always captured my attention much better and provided far more entertainment time.

Keeping up a gaming machine sure is expensive though.  image

For your first person shooters and MMOG's the PC is the best.  No gamepad, no matter how good it is, can't compare to a good keyboard/mouse or keyboard/joystick/mouse combo.  Also, For offline multiplayer, the computer is still better.  With a console, you are restricted mainly to 1-4 players all sharing the same screen.  With computers you have LAN (local area network). With this you can connect as many computers to the game as the game will support. Getting parties together and playing FPS and strategy games like this is just awesome.

For single player arcade-style games, I perfer console for stabillity and ease of use (turn it on, insert disk, play).

So what's better depends on what you're playing really.

My favorite debate, can't let it slip of the front page just yet! ::::31::

Only four players??? What??? I have 4 XBoxes at my house regularly. This make for some pretty good 8-16 player action. When was the last time you had 8-16 PCs at your house at a LAN party.

You sir have this fact backwards. Much easier to do with consoles.

Say I call you and 2 other guys up and say come over for some gaming. Two scenarios can happen:

PCs: You have to bring a PC, keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers, power strip, and whatever other controllers you might want. Then you have to set it up at my house, get configured for the LAN, and then if you do not have the game installed, we get to wait 15 plus minutes for that to happen. Multiply this times 3 and an hour or more of our gaming time has been wasted. In this setup, if a couple more friends drop by, they have to bring PCs. (Then god knows what virus your onme unprotected friend dropped of on your network while he was there :) ).

Consoles: 3 guys bring XBoxes with controllers to my house, they connect to TVs which I already have (If not, extras could be brought) and we begin playing. No worry of the game being installed or not, as you do not install games on an XBox. In this setup if a couple more guys drop by, they just start playing.
Takes up a lot less space and a lot easier for teams to work together as they can be sharing the same screen.

And if you do not think HALO XBox parties are fun, then you are mistaken. Not to mention all of the other great multiplayer XBox games.

  • nightraidernightraider Member UncommonPosts: 33

First off, very sorry for overlooking the capabillities of the Xbox (have PS2). If you can find that many other people with the same console and same game as you then more power to ya. FYI we had a LAN party going last weekend with 18 PC's. As far as setup, it was rather easy for those that know what they're doing. Setup took not more than 15 minutes and we were all connected and playing. (everyone had the games we were going to be playing installed before they showed up like they should)

Sure it might be easier to linkup some Xboxes but not everybody has an Xbox. On the other hand, everyone I know has a PC. Out of the 18 that showed up, only 4 of them have an Xbox at home. Providing everyone who has the Xbox has the same game and 4 controllers each, that could get 16 people sharing 4 screeens. I personally think it worth the extra time and effort to have my own screen and my own custom control setup on a keyboard/mouse. Until Xbox or any console can give me that, I'll stick with PC LAN parties.

Also, PC has alot more multiplayer games that support large numbers of players than the xbox does. I do not deny that halo is fun but it is nice to have a variety of different games to play during the course of your party.

You obviously like consoles and thats great. but I still perfer PC for multiplayer.

I see your side. I am not saying it isn't true. I play both and enjoy them both.

But it is just easier with an XBox. It is a fact. Look at it like this:

Your 18 firends have to have 18 good gaming PCs and have to own 18 copies of the game (unless you pirate it, anyway, nopt the point).

Of my 16 friends, we only need 4 XBoxes and 4 copies of the game. Is this not easier to come by?? Truly? Answer honestly... It just is. Sure, PC gaming is nice as well, but getting 4 XBoxes at your house is easier than 18 PCs.

Were these 18 PCs at your house? Where did you fit them all???
