  After SWG become crapware with NGE  i found  temporally a home in Ryzom had an intriguing faction war and i had good times. Hope  the new owner relaunches the servers. Beside that , waiting for ....

  Know exactly what you feel. After the CU changes I played WoW, Got bored of that because it reminded me far too much of the issues that plagued EQ, camping and group makeup rigidness.  Came back to SWG only for the NGE to hit.

  After that tried games like city of heroes(/villians), final fantasy XI, RFOnline, Eve, Ryzom, I even went back to Anarchy online. Came back to SWG(NGE) got depressed at my stuff being mostly useless so went to play EQ2, got equally annoyed with that like I did WoW.

  No matter how much they have improved the NGE since it was first released it maintains the same rigidity that I disliked in WoW and EQ(1 & 2). All of the customisation and ability to backtrack on avatar customisation (skills) that I had grown to love in pre-NGE SWG just simply isn't there. Profession expertise is just a joke compared to what it used to be.

  Pre NGE SWG was the defination of customisation in MMOGs, it set the standard there. Instead they go backwards and clone WoW.

  I said on the offical forum, if I want to play a game like WoW, I would go play WoW not SWG. Seems that logic escaped someone high up on the development team of SWG, be it LucasArts or SOE.

  As of yet I have not found anything that had the sheer depth of character skill customisation that was in SWG. The old skill tree was what defined and set SWG apart from everything else. If you find something like that along with the complexity of the crafting system in SWG currently, let me know. I'll be all over it.

  Fallen Earth is coming, it will likely be released this year, It is a place many of we former SWG-Pre-CU players are looking to go.

  But you are right, about half of my RL/work friends that played SWG when it was good, now play nothing, because nothing else even comes close. The rest play EvE or get a 1 month WoW sub occasionally while they are waiting for the next batch of good MMOs to come out.

  Since march 2005 i've tried more or less every new MMO and frankly the only one i've stuck with is EQ2,if we're in an age of linear quest based MMO's (which we are ) i may as well play the best on the market atm.

   

  The mind boggles at how well SOE have done with EQ2 and yet the same company inflicted the NGE on to people.

  I believe it will be released 2009. 

  Possible, just depends if they start the beta Q3. Could be a Q3 beta and Q4 release, or a Q4 beta and Q1 2009 release. I think it's about 50/50 either way. They might want to get it out for Xmas and people on the Xmas break.

  But as usual, the real answer will be "When it's ready."

  When i was a hater i tried Ryzom, EVE, EQ2, Planetside.
  
  
  
  I enjoyed Planetside and EQ2 the most, EVE was fun aswell although the constant skill grind i didn't enjoy. Ryzom was nice but not many people played it.
