    the way they have dropped the ball on handling the fans leaves me to think there will be a riot if they eventually announce it isn't star wars. then again thats what they get for allowing all the speculation on their forums.

    It's ridiculous isn't it?  I  find myself wondering that a lot too.

    I think generally some studios are afraid they'll mishandle the community relations piece, so they opt to punt it. But this only temporarily postpones the problem until the product gets to launch of course.

    More specifically in this particular case, I think some of it can be attributed to high secrecy culture that permeates all of Lucas's businesses.
