Im going by pure addictive factors here, and for how long i played it.
1. Ultima Online 2. EverQuest 3. Dark Age of Camelot 4. Final Fantasy XI - Currently Playing 5. Shadow Bane
Also played allot of other games such as Rubies of Eventide, Asherons Call , Asherons Call 2, Shadow Bane, Eve-online... and a few others I cant recall atm
Most anticipated:
1. EverQuest 2 (Pre Ordered) 2. DragonEmpires 3. World of Warcraft
I have a feeling WoW will just be the same as EQ2 but with more Manga like graphics, and i have had enough of them thanks to FFXI. Due to that fact Ill rather play the one that has the past experience, seeing as this is Blizzards first MMORPG (no Diablo isn't a MMORPG!!).
But for PvP games I don't think you can go past DragonEmpires as a must play game. They have some good ideas and seem to have sound programmers.

Originally posted by Fraek Ultima Online blows away the competition with a wide range of Freeshards that beat the original OSI-server. I'm still waiting for Dark and Light htough, which I believe will become the new pinnacle of online gaming. Quote: PvP is so much better then PvE. Well d'uh!
Have you tried any of the freeshards? I've looked at a couple, hoping to find one of interest, and most of them have a 30 people on, not much of a community there. If you know any good ones, please tell. I could use the entertainment.

The best mmorpg I have ever played is Anarchy Online. I don't play it anymore, but I had the best of time when I played. Now, my attention is turned toward EverQuest 2. I just hope it lives up to the hype.
I've played well over a dozen and here's my list....
1. SWG [Still playing it becuase of anticipation of JTL Expansion and becuase I love Star Wars] 2. EverQuest [In the first few years... and before two handfuls of money-groping expansions] 3. Dark Age of Camelot [Love the RvR] 4. FFXI [Only downside was that servers were mixed with the Japanese players which made for missunderstandings and troubles finding player groups] 5. UO [Before PvP Got Srewed]
I'm waiting for WoW and EQ2 but mostly EQ2 to bring some new life into the MMO genre... since most of the current games are having troubles keeping players interested...

I wouldn't advise anyone to play that game unless they want to see what NOT to do in a MMORPG.
I played EQ with one of the lead designers...He was an utter retard, and this news doesn't surprise me at all
EQ is a great game, if you have the time to invest. It's not a game you can play "just to pass the time" though.

Played on Darktide AC1 for 2 1/2 years, most fun I have ever had playing ANY game. It was always entertaining, and challenging, always had to watch your back, made alliances, people made names for who they really were.
Had a real community, and was just geniusly and fun. And all the new content was awesome. As well it wasnt a cookie-cutter clone, with EQ being the father of it all, and DAoC, AO, SWG, and the rest of the sort being its bastard children.
(And Yes. I played them all. And many, many, more.)

Originally posted by MixedVision So far I have only tried SWG. I think it is awsome.. but from what I hear a lot of ppl are saying there are much better things out there. I am stuck between deiciding to quit on this game and try everquest or just wait for the new everquest. Would it be easy to jump into as a newbie to EQ or would I need to have some sort of past experience with the first one? If anyone can help me out please just send me a message.
If you have never tried Everquest, then I would recommend trying the Everquest Trilogy 30 day free trial.
Keep in mind that with this trial you are only getting original EQ and 1st 2 expansions. You won't be seeing the improved graphics update that came with the Luclin expansion, or any other features that were added with past expansions.
Still, the original EQ before Luclin is considered classic. I agree with many other players that often say that it was such a great game then. It is worth trying out just to see what it's all about, especially when it's free. I am not sure if SOE is still offering the free trial though, check Station.com for more info.
As for SWG. I've taken a break from it but I miss it and want to re-activate my account so I can play again. I would only quit if you don't want to play it anymore, not because other people say it's not good.

Time fo the new dudes two cents:
City of Heroes: dont like it, no quests, all you do is kill things, so after a few weeks/days, its gets boring.
Dark Age of Camelot: Although the realms are uneven, i like it. If you could guess, i'm in albion, so i get the good end of the uneveness.
Tibia: I hate/love this game. Its addicting, but it sucks, but its addicting. make the horror stop.
