The folks at Stargate Worlds have sent word that only one day after the announcement that they were accepting registration for the SGW Beta, the number of people who have signed up has swelled to 65,000.
Only a day since the official announcement, the beta list for Stargate Worlds is already pushing 65,000 sign-ups! "We are extremely excited and overwhelmed by the positive response by fans to get a chance to beta test," said Senior Community Manager Katie Postma. " It gives the dev team a feeling of support and encouragement to know that so many people want to share this game with us, and work with us to make it better and better!"
Remember that the beta process has just begun, so please be patient if you have not been accepted yet. Testers will be added slowly over time, ramping up with much larger numbers in the coming months.
If you have yet to register for beta, do so now!

Those are pretty impressive numbers. Hopefully the game will be worth the attention.
I wonder if this is including the people who registered on their forums who were given about two weeks advance to register, or if it's just the people since registration completely opened.
Now with 57.3% more flames!
That's a pretty great achievement. Hopefully they can deliver.

You make it sound like 65,000 people signed up in 1 day, but I don't think that's the case - I signed up last week or so, when they sent the invitations to sign up out.
I have high hope with this one. Hopefully it wont turn into a crapper like most game based on movies or tv shows (SWG, Matrix) and the recently cancelled Star Trek Online.
Really looking forward to this one. I am sooooo hoping what I listed below does not happen with this game.
No matter the game, each one has fallen into a serious routine of "daily" or "grinding" or lets all group up and run a dungeon so we can all get the SAME uber loot. This happens at the end of most games, once you achieve the level cap.
Don't get me wrong, I don't mind a certain amount of repeatable situations, but when the entire game becomes repeatable...it's boring. And no, I don't always want to resort to PvP to fix the problem. I want the game to keep going, to keep alive. I don't mean add more new areas, I mean...fix the old areas! Change the loot, surprise us with new quests. Hide new secrets and tell nobody they are there. lol
Ok, sorry for the rambling...
Back to the topic! I love the series, so if the game is anything like it, then I will love the game as well.
Unofficial registration started on April 23rd in the afternoon by those that received the invites via email (registered forum members). In a 24 hour period they were in the 18k range. They officially launched the beta registration on April 30th and by May 1st they had the 65k number.
While the article may sound like it's a one day achievement, it's not, and they didn't say it was.
Only a day since the official announcement, the beta list for Stargate Worlds is already pushing 65,000 sign-ups!
Perhaps it would have been more accurate to state that since opening up their beta registration site, they'd received 65k registrations.
so...
Those are still impressive numbers even if it wasn't on one day.
I think your looking for spellborn...ill tell you where you find it.
Its 4 doors down and it will be on your left..have fun :P
well the 65k really shows how well the game has bein hyped by so many people and websites. I really hope this game lives up to the hype.
*crosses fingers*
I'm not really on the up and up about SGW, but I don't see this game releasing in 2008. More like mid or late 2009. They haven't even made it into closed beta yet.
Numbers at 84k as of 5 mins ago, but has to be remembered alot of people do create multiple accounts to increase chance of getting in the beta.
QFE
holy crap 84k that cant be right, i think your right people might be makein createing multiple accounts but i hope not.
