healer class

cwfanscwfans Member Posts: 2

 Im looking for a game that has a good healing class. Ive played WOW for a while but I need something new. I dont want to grind for gear. Ive tried LOTRO, COH/COV and none of them caught my interest. Im downloading EQ2  right now to try. Thanks for any ideas.

Looking for a game thats --

f2p or p2p (either)

pvp and pve

NOT a grind

good graphics like WOW

relies more on skill than what you have equiped (I hate running a dungeon 4 or 20 times just to get a new weapon so I dont get whipped in pvp)

good population

I dont know if a game like this exists .

    I don't think there is one out there.

    No grinding is the biggest hold up here. Every MMO I have experience with, and I have experience with a bunch of them, involves grinding. Now I know that you might be able to say that "grinding is in the eye of the beholder" or something... but honestly, folks.

    When you combine the no grind requirement, which is steep enough in and of itself, with the "relies more on skill than gear" requirement, I'm even more inclined to believe that no such game exists.

    probably the most intense healing ive ever done and is probably out there right now is guildwars...

    the pvp in guildwars is honestly unlike any other game.. which in turn leads the healing to be unlike any other game

    since the game is pvp based.. monks (the main healer class in GW) are a staple to any good team

    Guildwars is probably the most skill-based MMO ive seen... because everyone plays on a practically level playing field regarding equipment and levels, what makes players succeed over others is their own intellect and playing skills.

    the graphics are very well done, they have a unique style to them

    however.. you gotta keep in mind that gw is at the core meant to be a team game.. and starting out now when all of the expansions etc have already been released can be pretty rocky because the community there is very "rank-centric"...

    from what it looks like i think guildwars might be what youre looking for...

    but it might be a costly investment because you really do have to get at least 2 of the expansions plus the original to be competitive

    Guild Wars, yeah.  Relatively low grind, good story arc, decent graphics, healers are very important, gear only matters so much... pretty much what you are looking for.  Would be expensive to jump into at this point (one negative to expansions rather than monthly)  Was a great game when I played it years ago...

    Dark Age o Camelot is older but it has some decent healing class type stuff going on, graphics aren't the best.  Lineage 2 has powerful healers...but you said no grind so pbbtt on that.  AC2 had fun healers...oh wait...

    Luck!

    I agree...Guild Wars by far. Being a monk is very very fun. It's not your average healer class where you just heal damage that gets dealt. There are many, many options available!

    * It's purely skill-based - gear hardly matters.
    * No grind at all
    * Graphics trump WoW's by FAR
    * F2P once you've bought the box
    * Awesome PvE campaigns (not just quests - interesting missions too)
    * Excellent population, as well as free travel between servers so you're ensured to always find players no matter what the time.

    Thanks a bunch for the feedback. Ill give GW a try. Are there certain expansions that are better than the others or do I need them all?

    I'd recommend getting Prophecies or Nightfall first. Eye of the North is an expansion meaning you'll need at least one of the other games to play, and Factions is more PvP-oriented so I'd recommend getting that last.

    There are however some pretty good bundle deals around where you may be able to pick up Prophecies and Factions together :) A little bit of searching should give you some good results!

    Oh, and welcome ;)
