This game=Copy/Paste of Hellgate?

Not speaking of the gameplay or anything like that, but of releasing a crappy product and blaming the players for horrible reviews of it. Why is it they do this, is it just the people behind the curtain pushing it out, cant they see from games like this that it doesnt work? Dunno, i just found it funny hellgate didnt see it coming after TR failed literally a few months before it and they are both rather similar.
Another thing, did this game really fail after 6 months because there was no auction house/mounts/whatever other WoW crap, or does the combat still simply suck, and the areas still very boring? Id hate to see a good game fail because of something stupid like crafting or an auction house.

I get this funny feeling you're the type that gathers info from a couple message boards without really playing any games and formulates a bias from that.
Oh and the game hasn't "failed". If you consider an MMO launching with no endgame a failure then you might want to do some more forum seeking to discover it's a fairly standard MMORPG procedure. It's coming along with each update.

While I can appreciate your enthusiasm for your game of choice, your statement is not accurate. The game is a failer in comparison to successful MMOs, the "lead" on the team is ignoring it so he can live out a childhood fantasy of going into space. Where are the vehicals? Where is there any endgame patches? Where is the added conrtent? I suppose you may consider absolutely unneeded complete class breaking / nerfing as "coming along". Not me.
The game is awful, its bleeding players, and no amount of fanboy blind devotion will change that. Devs who give a damn might be a start.
You have it wrong, Hellgate is a copypasta of TR. Both suck.
TR has horrible lag, boring game play, an developer/creator thats full of himself as well as being a tool.
Hellgate, while being more fun, gets really really old really quick after you have seen the same map-instance OVER NINE THOUSAND TIMES.
The UI in both games is sloppy.

TR is actually pretty good for a while.
They did put in an Auction House-Should have shipped with this in the game tho.
TR has now nerfed 3 classes in the last 4 patches and will probably be nerfing more. Everyone knows nerfing happens but these issues should have been addressed before launch. Now people who played these 3 classes are pretty much disillusioned by the developers of TR. They are so busy balancing classes that they haven't put much into new content. "New content" is always for the next patch. They claim to have 4 instances in the works but most players are having trouble believing this since without evidence we don't know this to be true.
TR has a trial. If anyone has doubts about the game they should try it. There is only one starting point and one endpoint to the game so replay value seems limited.
Personally I did the 3 day trial then bought the game for $10 online. My sub is till May 14th but I doubt I will continue on. The game seems to be in late Beta testing with the class and skill balancing. There are some skills that don't work and need redone. I don't want to pay to test this product. I wanted to be an Engineer but they nerfed it big time while not even addressing skills that don't work.
As it is some things in this game work well. If you are looking for a social MMO this probably isn't it. There isn't a system to Look For Group but they claim to be working on one. I have grouped with one other person a few times but there is rarely a need to group. I have never seen a group larger than 2 players. Maybe you need them after level 30, I don't know and doubt I will make it to 30.
One thing I really don't like about the game is the class tree. Everyone starts out as a Recruit and then branches out. Some skills you have at 5 may not be needed later in the game. You can grind tokens for a respec however so this probably isn't too bad except that there is only one path from basic training to the endgame. I'm an alt-aholic and hate to grind so I create alts so I feel I am moving forward when my mains leveling slows to a crawl. Alts do the same exact areas/quests as your main so if you like repetition you're good to go.
If anyone made it this far all I can say is this game isn't for everyone. There are some pretty negative tones surrounding it. The trial has been extended to 5 days for a while. If you like what you do for those 5 days buy it if you can wait for them to fix the game.

Fail? I think not. There seems to be more players and more action going on, on all servers.
Hellgate? While hellgate is cool and all, it is totally dull and lifeless. If I wanted to run through the sewers through an entire game I'd play hobo wars.

No way. The online version of Hellgate was much buggier than TR at release.
Hellgate was perfectly fine for me offline and I never did the sub, but I think everyone agrees the online stuff was very buggy.
TR was quite decent for a full on MMO at release as far bugs and whatnot. It lacked 30+ content and in my opinion has/had a not so mature RPG design on the professions. But that is a completely different bag of chips.
In fact I would say they were opposite. Hellgate had right from the start pretty good RPG parts but was crippled by bugs and TR was the other way around.
The only thing they shared was lack of content. But TR's content was fine below 30, in fact quite good in my opinoin. More fun than I had in WoW pre-30 frankly. And the content of the two really can't be compared since TR is a true MMORPG with a shared world and Hellgate is not.

BTW I did not buy or sub TR. The game was fun and I like the basics but I decided Idid not want to deal with the various not-fully developed 30+ game and most especially the semi-complete RPG design of the classes.
I am not a fanboy, the game is fun. Some people on this board would have you believe it is awful in every way and that the game was made by Satan. The same thing happens with Hellgate as well.
Hellgate offline was a perfectly good purchase for me it was fun and replayable and not that buggy. I would not pay for a sub though.
There is a lot of demonization going on. People seem to be extremely childish when it comes to these two games. No one can admit what they got right. Frankly it is very sad, in a general sense. But its especially sad since both games can be very fun.
The games have their good points and their bad points could we please stop making this god damn political race?
