System upgrade question

I am not in beta however I am very much looking forward to playing this game on launch day without major issues.

I'm ready to upgrade my system and just want to get some advice from you experienced beta testers so I dont waste a  bunch of $.  What would be my best move?

My system~

AMD x2 6000+ dual core running @ 3ghz

2 gigs ram

7600 gt video card

I will upgrade my video card but do you think that would be enough? Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah, upgrade the vid card and at least another 512 mb even with a 32 bit OS... xp can use up to 4GB just not all for one program. XP can use up to 2GB for one program or even up to 3GB if you know how to set it up for it.

You could try going for 4GB and have 1GB for OS and 3GB for AoC but not all systems will recognize all of it.

    Thanks  jusomdude,

I forgot to mention that Im running Vista home premium but your reply is helpful because it looks  like I can upgrade to 4 gigs of ram and grab me atleast a 8600 gt card instead of building a new system at this time.

    Thanks again

I just ordered a new system for AoC an other  high video/processor intensive games coming out soon.  I have always been using XP but I have Vista coming, so I am worried about that and really need to learn how to customize it (as the poster right before just mentioned some tips I will try to figure out to optimize my RAM).

Right now, what I am using is almost exactly like the OPs, and from my Open Beta experience, I think you will need to upgrade your video card, but I'm not sure how you will do that without a new motherboard, power supply, etc. because I think the next cards, like the nvidia 8 series, requires a motherboard that is drastically different.  I wanted to upgrade and looked into this a while ago and was sorry to learn that I couldn't go much higher than the nvidia 7800 video card without pretty much overhauling my system with other parts.

If you have the cash, AoC uses DX10 which would be nice.  I can't wait to see a game with DX10 graphics.

P4 2.6 Mhz, 2.5 gig Ram and a Geforce 6200 ran it just fine with a minimum of client problems. I did get a marked improvement upon upping to a 7600 card. You should have no issue at all, although I've heard that a good sized paging file on the HD helps, I've had it high from the start.

upgrading right now is probably not the best idea with both ati and nvidia presenting the next gen gfx chips this summer, i heared of launchdates in june/july but not compleetly sure about that.

I bought a nice mid-range gaming PC that is fully upgradable and can be overclocked,   with an Intel Core 2 procesoor and dual nvidia 8800 GT's.  They are relatively inexpensive now, and will get the job done from what I've read.  For a hardcore gamer on a serious budget, that's about as good as it's gonna get for me without spending several thousands.

Maybe an upgrade to a 7950 Ultra would make some improvements over the 7600?  I don't know, but this card should be cheap now too.
